Rather robust late Sat. early Sun. continuous t-storms here in Roxas City dropped close to 100mm (4") Sir Robert. 2nd nite in a row w/this weather pattern occurs. Sun. @0630 pleasant rain cooled air & recent days feel tinge of northerly air flow esp. in AM. T/y for update. 👍
We all know this, but it has been 45 years since Super Typjoon Tip... On this day, the typhoon's influence extended from Japan to the Equator, and its pressure was 870 milibars, perhaps even less.
Can one equate millibar numbers to category of typhoon? Example 870 mb is category 5, 1000millibars is category 3 etc. I want to learn the significance of the millibar number and how it relates to intensity, windspeed, size, etc.
@caffiend. It is better to ask meteorologist Robert Speta about this, but the lower the barometric pressure of a storm system is, the stronger it usually is.
A typhoon which is known for extreme wind, rain, and storm surge is an area of very low pressure. Wind although similar to water moving downhill being pulled by gravity is different to water by the movement of air from a high pressure to a low pressue area. Lower air pressure areas create stronger winds. The stronger the wind is blowing on shore the higher the tide is or a stronger storm surge.
Hahahaha... 😂😅😆
