Released in 1981 and whenever you walked into one of the major clubs in London of the day and heard this track resonating in the venue you would almost immediately head for the dance floor . Tee's Happy ..... I'm Happy
OK... last time I'm gonna say it...no one is taking anything away from TEE...he did a great mix...but... if Russ, Arthur and myself (Tony Carbone) didn't write and produce this track... it never would have been a track that Tee would have had the chance to mix... Creating a track like this is a collaboration of creative people and energy with all parties bringing their ideas to the table... which we all did... and Tee's mix is nothing short of great... I was very proud to have his name on the record...and still feel the same way....So... I hope this explains my feelings...Cheers to Tee and Russ (fantastic drumming by the way) who have both passed on to a better place and to my remaining partner on this track, Arthur Baker.... Russ was my good friend and we wrote this song and a lot of other tracks together with Arthur Baker and with Keith Maynard... I miss you Russ.. you died way too soon and the world would have been a better place with you in it...Peace my brother... I know that we'll write more great songs again some day...until then Happy Days to you....Tony
I remember this song came out 81-82 and this is two of my favorite female friend so whom are both deceased Sherry Walker and Phyllis Jamila Richardson I miss both of you all dearly I dedicate this song to you both, rest in peace!
Gary, I have never, ever stopped missing or thinking about Russell. He was a fabulous musician/drummer, gifted writer/producer and ---a wonderful friend. I'll never forget how kind he was to my daughters'-Mother, when I was away in England after my Mother 'passed.' He, alone provided Moral Support fro my loss when I returned to work with him. He'll always be missed!

This song introduced me to the Mixer/ DJ Tee Scott played at the gay club Better Days. Never heard him play there but did catch him playing at the Empire Roller Dome skating rink in Brooklyn.

OMG, FINALLY someone mentioning THE CLUBHOUSE!!! That DC club & house music was fierce! I must also mention "The Delta" & of course "Tracks"! Sunday & Wednesday nights at Tracks was always worth heading down 95 South from Philly for and going straight to work tired as hell...!
Yeah PJ sampled this track for his tune Happy Days did this and it was big tune back in the day, especially that guitar riff (I think it came out around 96) A lot of house music stations and clubs use to play this track. Phats and Small also did remix of this.
And this was '81. Right at the border of Disco and Club music.Way before its time. I remember DJ Shep Pettibone playing this at Bond's International for the first time. The bar cleared OUT! All you saw were drinks upended, glasses slammed and people rushing to the dance floor! It was a blast!
It sounds brilliant!! Greg Edwards used to play it at the Lyceum in London and everybody was going crazy and blowing whistles.. What a fantastic time!! Nice to speak to someone who was there and remembers this!! :-)))
Allow me my sentiment...Tee did a great job but...he didn't create Happy Days...That was Russ, Arthur and Myself...and since Russ passed away many years ago, I just wanted to give him the props he never got in life...and by the way...I know what the tracks sounded like before Tee's mix...They were HOT !

Thanks for dropping a line, Tony and for also dropping this beautiful piece of music. I love both the original and this edit from Tee, only downside is that it's a bit light on Michelle's stellar vocals. I've got a question: who's playing the guitar? (not the bass)
Yes, I was there and Tee Scott put this song on the map, also clubs were playing both Tee's remixes (vox and instrumental) ONLY! I see tons of revisionist history regarding clubs/dance history now since many of these great DJs and producers have passed on thus can't vocalize what truly happened. Then you have a person who was not in the midst of the the underground dance world writing about it, SMH!
I just want to comment on the statements above.....Tee's mixes were what put this track on the map in the underground club scene...I was Tee's light man at 2 different clubs and remember when he brought the acid tone test press to the club to see the response...THEY LOST THEIR EVER LOVIN MINDS!!!!. Not taking credit from Arthur Baker and company...But if Tee didn't remix this track as we know it, I don't think it would have been as hot as it was....My opinion
