I love how there is one elite representative North Korean, one more country side North Korean and one South Korean here. Coz having different status can share a very different view
@@jungkooks_microwavephobia Both are important though since a poor north korean wouldnt know the life of a rich north korean and a rural north korean wouldnt know the life of a urban living north korean.
Thank you for this! I've been wondering not just about how realistic the drama is but also how North Korean viewers would feel about it. Can we have a part 2 (3, 4...) please ? :D I'm curious about so many things. Car ownership and the number plate thing. The social structure of the village. The distribution of South Korean/Foreign media. Rich kids travelling abroad. Are there things missing from the depiction of daily life? Do you think the drama romanticizes or exagerates certain aspects of life in North Korea?
When I was watching Crash Landing on you, I can't help but cry on those scenes where the north korean squad were so shocked and happy about things they experience the first time when they are in South Korea, I mean, how are they so new about it? why are they kept isolated by their own government from the rest of the world? aren't they also humans like us? they should enjoy everything in this world like the rest of us. From Internet to high tech doorknobs to wonderful city lights at night, I can't help but cry on those scenes, why is the NK government so cruel to their people, please set them free from the selfish law. and you know what is the worst thing I have read today due to my curiosity about NK? that is South Koreans are actually really not allowed to go or set foot on North Korea, I MEAN, WHYYY???? shouldn't you be the two strongholds of your nation since both are koreans by blood? I have no idea about the history of North and South Korea quarrel but it really makes me feel so sad. :( I hope it will be changed in the future, God Bless them
well if i was in kim jong un position the dictatorship is my family legacy so i will try my best to keep it that way. and also i bet its pretty comfortable to live at the top in a counry like NK
There's this one particular scene where Captain Ri cooked using a briquette in front of his squad and then told them that "Soon, this technology will reach every North Korean homes, this is the future" While Se-ri said that In South Korea they already use gas and electric for cooking.
A lot of North Korean Defectors that aren't being paid by South Korea say "The Grass is greener on the other side". While they may have everything you can possibly want in a capitalistic society notice how one of the characters point out "Theres more mental illness in capitalistic societies". Which isn't to say North Koreans don't suffer from mental illness neither, but many defectors were amazed at the fact that you had to pay for basic things like Healthcare and Education. While they live in a very humble setting, they at least have each other and their community. Just food for thought. Not everything is black and white.
I really love that you guys made a video about this drama! Seeing your reactions and talking about it because North Korea is so closed off and many of us around the world no nothing but few bits of info! Thanks again for providing us with this valuable video!
@@natachaying5829 yes they used consultant/consultants nd there is also a video on YT with a girl from NK who was helped the cast/ director of CLOY about NK related scenes!!
FYI, they cant film South Korean drama reviews like this in North Korea🤣😅. The two people from the left( the guy in the left and the girl in the middle) are North Korean defectors who are now living in S. Korea. So obviously, they filmed this in South Korea
I had to turn on my caption, and started looking for vids like this after watching Crash Landing on You cause very curious about the accuracy. Well I wish peace and union on both north and south. 🙂
wow thank you for the video. I'm also a North Korean defector and watching this video inspired me to a great extent thanks again. I really appreciate it.
Wow Thank you for sharing this. The show has sparked interest about NoKor. Crash Landing on You did a great job with depicting North Korea's rural areas and pyongyang.
Imm glad they arr able to give their comments like this but I do have to wonder how... because I don’t often see north koreans on social media. How are they able to do this without their government being mad? Just a honest curiosity.
I love that Kim Jun-hyeok iswearing Ri Jeong-hyeok's Seoul makeover costume and Noel Kim wearing Yoon Se-ri's Pyongyang makeover costume 💕 Park Cha-nee seems to be wearing Ri Jeong-hyeok's shirt that Yoon Se-ri changed into after her first bath in North Korea, before Captain Ri bought her women's clothes in the black market.
4:31 damn this moment truly felt like the drama itself.. ri jeong hyuk would say something like it’s illegal and seri would say something like “everything is illegal in north Korea’.. like even their voice tones sounded so drama like. A cute moment ❤
the guy said he's from Pyongyang, as far as I know, only selected people (if not family) can live in Pyongyang.. 😳😳😳 so he came from a well known background..
I know that was only a drama serie, but I was really interested about understanding more about conditions in North Korea. 감사합니다 for your testimonies and descriptions ✨😊🙏
lots of love to these peoples..they are beautiful souls💓😁 This drama is really best, it shows people all over the world are same..its just some of us are victim of greedy politics!!
Hanh I remember seeing somewhere that they stopped killing the families because then there would be waaaaay too many people killed and the population would decrease drastically
He is a N. Korean defector living in.South Korea, so is the girl in the middle. There are more than 30,000 North Korean defectors living in South Korea
From what I remember, Suwon already had a great IMAX theater where the seats had surround sound speakers by your head lol. I saw World War Z there when it came out. I was stationed on Suwon’s ROK base in 2013.
I feel sorry for you guys because some of the comments here are hard to read.... If people in free societies with access to the internet and youtube can be this ignorant, it's not hard to believe that people in closed and restrictive societies can be easily duped.
Wait, can someone explain to me how these North Koreans are in South Korea making this video? Like are they defectors or they are just rich enough to travel around freely? Been loving these kinds of vids!
I'm so curios about the elite guy :"), if he has a comfortable life in north korea, why is he going to south korea? I mean the process to get to south korea is difficult, right?
No, you've understood it wrong: A lot of the defectors these days are from the so-called "elite". Simply because they've got money to defect. Back in 1990's and the beginning of 2000's, most defectors were desperate people who were starving to death or escaped from places like prisons and labor camps, and they literally had no other choice but to defect or die. They didn't know or care about whether their life would improve elsewhere, they just had nothing to lose at that point. Those defectors are the ones you've probably heard of before. But it's not like that nowadays, most people in North Korea are surviving just fine. So the people who leave are leaving because they KNOW what's up. At this point South Koreans and Chinese people have been able to smuggle so much information and items into North Korea that those who've got enough money know just about as much than we do. They've watched kdramas, p*rn and other movies, and they've bought a ton of smuggled luxuries, like rice cookers, cigarettes and USB flash drivers. So they KNOW, but a lot of of the stuff they see and consume is not only expensive but also limited and illegal. Obviously they want the same things than everyone else. Of course they want free, uncensored education, they want to taste foreign foods, they want to travel, they want to start companies, escape the 10 year military service, criticize their own government without fear of punishments. Just like all of us. But the only thing stopping people from not defecting is not exactly the fact that it's hard (although it IS hard): it's just that it's expensive. Which is why only relatively wealthy families can afford to even try it. I've talked with a North Korean defector and she was also one of those "elite" families: her parents sent her out because they all KNEW life would be much better and liberating for them outside of North Korea, and they had just enough money to do so. Of course those parents then pretended their children had died in order to avoid being punished, but yeah. The richest and most educated people in Pyongyang are the ones most likely to abandon North Korea at some point. They're the ones who are least satisfied with their own government. Military leaders and their families, on the other hand, might be another matter.
Thx for make this video bcos Im very curious about why North Korea and South Korea cannot unite? how there are so many differences for both when they are both Korean ... I have the first question that I want to ask, hopefully it can be answered ... Is it true that North Koreans and South Koreans should not get married?
Lady at the center saying everything in north korea are illegal made me sad. plus the social status situations where elites can only go to dept stores ㅠㅠ
Can anybody explain how they could film in North Korea? Because in some scenes you can clearly see that it's north Korea.. Please explain , because I thought north Korea has a high security.. Thank you really much
They’re english subtitles, so ofc they’re gonna write it how english speakers write their names. I would also prefer their second name first but just be grateful for eng subs at all.
@@yxvnv "they're gonna write it how english speakers write their names" In HK and SG, those English speakers write their names the proper way: surname given name. So, what are you talking about?
i thought NK was a totally isolated country like they don't know YT and other online stuffssss (this is a genuine curiosity, nothing againat themmm). are they like hmmm, at other country?? or like they change citizenshippp?
They probs escaped and are now filming in south korea, esp bc the girl on the right is from sk and im pretty sure they arent allowed in north korea at all, also in the north they do have internet but no access to global interent its more like an intranet only for the north to make sure they cant learn about the outside world, so i doubt people would know much bout youtube etc unless they find out illegally
