@@truedatdatdatdat no...not crazy @ all. One of the most believable stories of alien abduction happened in the north woods of Maine back in the 80's i think. Four friends camping claimed they were all brought up onto a spacecraft of sorts. They later claimed there was a several hour gap in time lost

Thanks Rick for a bit of home. Was born and raised in Millinocket and My Family still is there. I went into the military and retired in Montana with my Wife and Kids But I will always have a soft spot for the Katahdin region , My old back playground.

Thank you for such a beautiful look at this property!! I loved that you stopped several times along the way and then you sat on the porch and talked awhile. It was not only informative, but it was relaxing to watch. On a side note, you had your lovely dog with you. Are you the same realtor who used to have the older dog, that was suffering from cancer? I had German Shorthaired pointers way "back in the day".....LOVE the breed!

Yes, our older dog Ranger had been diagnosed with liver cancer a year ago in May. He enjoyed the summer with us, and lived until November 10th, 2020. We had him laid to rest on that day. At the moment we have Blazer who is 5 years old, and in the prime of his life. Contemplating adding a buddy for him, but have not quite settled on that yet. Ranger's passing is still a bit too fresh for my wife and I. We do love GSP's as well. Blazer is our 3rd.

I love watching these. “Even in the north Maine woods, there is propane!” Yet just 20 miles away in Canada, there is hydro, highways and dare I say, civilization. That said, I would buy this property in a heartbeat. 55 acres, a trout stream for $170,000 ($206,650 CD)...perfect! Too bad it’s across the border.

I've watched more of Rick's videos than I can count and just came across this one, perhaps for the second time...This is SO much more than a property presentation. Those Native American names just roll off his tongue, one after the orher, don't they? The video was scripted, (yeah, that's the right descriptor) really well with editing and the music track to support and compliment the overall effort. Curious about Maine...this is for you! Beautiful Property. I do have one question that might seem stupid to someone already living in Maine. Is there any particular reason why properties like the one listed here are not situated on a full concrete basement? As you probably know a full basement can provide additional living space, a place of protection in bad weather and additional floor insulation in the winter. Must get pretty cold in the winter when wind can blow right underneath it. Anyway, it just seems like all these cool cabins on acreage all seen to be situated on stilts. Thanks for the listing and we appreciate you taking the time to put it on youtube. Nice job!!!

Well in the case of this property and others like it, it was built as a hunting/recreational getaway. In that same area I have sold several properties. There is only 1 in the whole township that had a full basement. That owner had more money than many people and built a magnificent getaway. The cost of building was really not a concern for him. The logistics of getting concrete to that remote location add considerably to the cost. Cabins built on a gravel pad with concrete blocks is the most common method of building these "camps" back in the woods. As long a s a good gravel base is under the cabin, they really hold up quite well. The insulation under the floor, helps shield you from the cold, once the cabin has warmed up from the wood stove in the winter.

@@GeorgeBalek MAINE also has groundwater close to the surface in most places. Homes built with cellars often flood and are reliant on sump pumps to stay dry, particularly during the spring melt/mud season. That poses its own set of problems when the house is unoccupied or has no power….

Market value is determined by what willing buyers and sellers agree to. There is a very limited supply of properties in the North Maine Woods. Combine that with a lot of demand, we are surprised prices are not higher than they are.

Can you tell me what the property taxes would be after the sale...?? I'm assuming that the property tax figure you show is for the current assessed value. The tax assessed value would change after the sale would it not..??

The fishing in the river is excellent with brook trout and landlocked salmon. This part of Maine gets 60 to well over 100 inches of snow.

The land is owned and not shared. The road system is shared. The 70 mile road is plowed however the Elm Pond is usually not.

Less than $800/annual property taxes for 55+ acres? That doesn't sound right? I'd be afraid the town would increase the property taxes exponentially because all the acreage. I'd be happier with just 5 acres surrounding the property
