Just got back from there. We have been 5 years in a row! I personally been to Myrtle Beach 41 years. Thanks to y’all for your work and dedication on informing everyone about the sights and sounds of my most favorite place on this planet!! Keep up the great work
That lot next to Hillside has always been free even at peak times during peak season. I also should say that North Myrtle Beach is a perfect middle ground between the constant entertainment of Myrtle Beach proper and the absolute lack of things to do in Surfside in Garden City. there’s plenty to do in north Myrtle beach but it’s not overwhelming.
we were just there last week, and it was awesome, and hot beginning of the week, we stay in cherry grove, NMB area. like you stated this are is more laid back, family oriented and much quieter. main street is a cool area, we got to go on thursday night when they have the Music on the Main, it was really great this time. so cool to see the wide range of age folks singing and dancing. we also visited Melt, the ice cream place on main 2 times this trip. very good, and popular. nice to see you come up to NMB for a tour, great stuff. when you got to the horseshoe, to your left when you mentioned hotos, inside that building if you have ever heard or listened to 94.9 the surf, they are in there.
Lived in NMB 4 years 1979-1983 in the Crescent Beach section (next one south of here) but have stayed here many times as well. Love NMB. I lived about 3 blocks from where "Wheel of Fortune's" Vanna White grew up; I used to pick my daily mail up from her dad (Herb) at the Coastal Station Post Office in Windy Hill section.
After living here for 5 years, it’s amazing how many people still do not know about the “Shops on Main” complex. There’s lots of different businesses back in there and my wife owns one of them.
Love your videos! I stayed in N. Myrtle Beach in February at the Comforts Inn and the weather was surprisingly warm! When I go back off season I plan to stay at the Best Western in the northern part again.👍💚
My grandma owns a condo 18 blocks north of Main Street on Ocean Boulevard. I have been going there since I was a baby and 24 now. Georgios pizza has the best gyros even though it takes for ever in italics to get your food. They also don’t have air-conditioning. Last time we were there we just used the picnic tables outside of Main suites. New York pizza kitchen is also very good. Sometimes we go there when the seating at ducks is taken. It’s right next to ducks and you can hear all the music. Sky bar is so much fun if you like Nightclubs. It’s for the young folks for sure. I know you love to film these in the morning, but you need to do one after sunset. It’s unrecognizable.
The North Myrtle Beach Irish Italian Festival this year 2023 is on Saturday September 30th from 10am to 4 pm and there's a parade.Would love to see a video someday on it.
if im not mistaken this is the main road down to Ocean Drive beach. the O D arcade and the Spanish Galleon have been there since the late 60s early 70s. we use to stay in cherry grove beach in 69-72 but have never been back to stay since. the next year we found litchfield then garden city the next year and have never been back since. OD seems really busy and populated now and cherry grove is full of big hotels and condos. things we try to avoid going to Garden city Surfside. thanks for showing this video. great video i think all your videos are great and informative Carmen! i know people that go for the shag contests. im no shagger lol. thanks Larry
Flynn’s is located in the former NMB police department building. The jail cells used to still be in part of the building for many years. That’s the reason for the large antenna located outside.
I'm from West Virginia and I go to North Myrtle Beach at least 2 times a year. I have a house on Charter oaks golf course. And I fish at the cherry Grove pier..I love it there. South Carolina beaches are the best in my opinion
Carmen, I'm wondering how you walked by Hoskins without popping for a meal. I don't think I could do that. :) BTW, you're correct "Shag" started in NMB. Fat Harold's has a yearly Shag competition, and there are some great dancers. Myself, my two left feet doesn't allow for "Shagging". LOL
What might be an area around Ocean Blvd. and Main Street where there would be Airbnbs? It looks like older people would need an Uber to get around because the streets are so big.
It’s pretty wild that you can buy beer/wine nearly 24/7/365 in Horry County. (Sunday hours are limited for beer/wine) Hard booze is limited to 9am to 7pm M-S. (no hard on Sundays) Hard is also closed on Christmas. Restaurants can sell 10a-2am 7 days a week. But you really need to check. Ask the person you’re buying from. The rules seem to vary. Here booze stores are called ABC. You’ll see three “red dots” on a sign. That’s an ABC store. Where you buy hard booze. You may know them by other names in your area. Like, liquor store, package store, or party store. Lastly, know that here in SC, ABC stores sell no mixers. Only the booze. A handful also sell wine and even beer. Those rare few have special license to do so. Not common.
just subscribed to you guys.wish I knew about you three years ago when I moved here but these vids look great and they will make awesome viewing. thanks so much !@@CarmenandBrian . by the way.... I live in Barefoot Resort, love it here. We do need a replacement for our 85 yo swing bridge but who has 80 million dollars ? lol
@@CarmenandBrian ah, I misunderstood. Your context was all about liquor stores. I thought you spoke of a private/gov co-op for stores..yikes!. Thanks! Great work!
Thank you! That reference was to our former location we lived in NC where liquor stores were controlled by the county government. They are private in SC.
