In May I went back to the Battleford’s for a weeks fishing. One afternoon I want to try the Point and Dam in Battleford, first time in 20 years. The turf company basic killed both areas blocking the road especially at the point and the dam is really there any more. The area is all gated to boot.

Great Video man, new Sub from Indiana! I grew up Fishing the South Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, it did my heart good & brought back memories seeing you land that Goldeye.

Nice day out!! Pretty decent Sauger too. I wonder if you used some smaller hooks on your rigs with bait cut to suit that size if you might have a better chance with smaller and skittish fish? Still, a day out fishing is a day out fishing,...thanks for the "home" opener!!

Definitely would help for sure. The hook size we were using was 2/0 I believe, so definitely could have played around with that a little bit. Thanks for watching!

I lived on an acreage by Paradise Hill. Caught a 15 pound walleye about 30 years ago on a jig with a rubber leach. Still hanging on my wal todayl.

NSR is so under rated. In the months when it is low and clear, emerald green, the gold eye and walleye readily take on a long belly spey swing. It's big water, and a swing into the seams with a small spey fly is golden.

And if I could. Pickerel rigs should be avoided in flowing water. This week3nd alone I snagged 2 pickerel rigs off bottom and both had fish stuck to them... With a slide rig u can snap off or snag and never have a piece of bait stuck on bottom. With pickerel rigs every snag leaves bait stuck to the bottom. Hope this tip helps minimize mortality ❤🤟

We call them "ghost rigs". I snagged one in 2022 and pulled in 2 sturgeon caught in it. Untangled and released them both

Sure looks like a nice spot to wet your lines. Can you eat the Saskatchewan River fish?
@AlbertaAngling

City of Edmonton's website says "You should not eat fish from the North Saskatchewan River more than once a week, and do not eat the liver or other organs. Pregnant women, women of child-bearing age, and children under the age of 15 should not consume the fish at all."

Used to fish the red deer river years ago never used bait just len thompson spoons. Caught sauger, walleye, jacks, goldeye, never came up empty for fish. Pickeral rigs isn't real fishing.

I agree with BJ on this. Pickerel Rigs should never be used on the North Saskatchewan River. They simply kill to many fish and are very hard on wildlife. No P Rigs ever. Jigs, spoons flies and Slider rigs only.

women should check health Canada recommendations regarding recommended amounts of consumption.. For pregnant women . coppied pasted.........You should not eat fish from the North Saskatchewan River more than once a week, and do not eat the liver or other organs. Pregnant women, women of child-bearing age, and children under the age of 15 should not consume the fish at all.
