Oh yes, Daniel ist the Great Ambassador of Argentina's food culture and we all love him for that passion.
I have to keep reminding myself that this was pre-Covid times! A time when we could all be normal human beings and enjoy our travels! Hopefully we will be able to travel like this again in the very near future. Thank you so much for the wonderful videos that are keeping us all bouyed during this time. Love you guys, Happy New Year! 🥰😘🥳🍾🥂
Thanks Melissa! It feels like a lifetime ago now editing this series. I sure hope things can return to normal again soon for everyone around the world. Happy New Year!!!
This makes me miss Argentina so much. I was an exchange student there (in Resistencia, Chaco province), and had the chance to spend a couple days in Buenos Aires at the beginning and end of my program. This video reminds me how much I loved the food, the people, and the surroundings. Thanks for posting this.
Hola Samuel, Audrey y Daniel !!
Oh how much I miss the cafes in Buenos Aires. The amazing pastries, the coffee and the hot chocolates (which are a meal in itself when they are made with full cream a whole bar of chocolate melted into). And of course the alfojores. Luckily I learned to make them myself (as well as medialunas) and since this summer I also make my own dulce de leche. But... I miss the atmosphere of BA's cafes so much. And the pizzas and the empanadas and.... I have to stop right now and wish you all a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR and that we soon can enjoy all these lovely things again together.
Thank you very much Enzio! Happy New Year to you! That is so cool you've learned how to make all those delicious items. Any secrets to making them well?
I've followed your travels for years. I must say I really enjoy your father when he is featured. Such a great personality...positive...humorous...always offers a smile. Hope to see him from time to time. Happy New Year.
Yummy. I love the food in BS Aires. Specially the Bífe de Chorizó ( NY Steak) and the choripan . In many parts of South America they call the humitas “choclotandas”. Also in South America you will find all sorts of empanadas prepared in different ways and with different ingredients.
If you guys come back I definetly recommend you to visit El Zanjon de Granados which is a house in San Telmo that was bought as a destroyed and empty parcel to make a restaurant, but when the owners started digging they found the foundations of old conventillos and the oldest water tunnels from the 1800s when the city was just starting to take shape! they let go of the idea of making a restaurant and it's now a museum with one of the most interesting stories of the city's foundation! the tour takes you underground to walk through the tunnels where they have rare antiques they found while digging, and tell you the story of the house and how it became a conventillo for poor inmigrants during the late 1800s and early 1900s. AMAZING place, I took the tour twice and they have an english speaking guide.
The Argentinian bakery near my place in So. California uses the same type of menu to identify all the empanadas. They also bake empanadas to order and they are delicious. Hope they survive Covid lock down. I think they must have middle eastern ancestry as well as they offer kibbeh which is a type of Middle Eastern empanada. I have taken Audrey's dad's advice and already started dieting in the hope of visiting Argentina in a year when hopefully we are back to normal
Hola Daniel Audrey y Samuel.
I so love empanadas ugh so delicious I am sure nothing like the ones in the us. We did find one time traveling around st Augustine Florida a little hole in the wall that was cooking empanadas in a brick oven and they were delicious. It was also cold and they were so necessary for the weather. Yum great video doods!
Wow! That is so cool. Love those hidden gems. Were you visiting in July/August? I remember how cold it got during those months. We normally visit when it is too hot though.
@@samuelandaudrey we were visiting I think to see the fountain of youth and Castillo San Marcos also and then we were continuing on to Vero beach and I think we only had a day or a day and a half in Saint Augustine but it was pretty cool there was like the shopping district you could just kind of walk around and that’s where we found the empanadas. Also some pretty cool art galleries on that same street I was probably I think February when we were there so it was cold but normally I think it’s warmer. Nice Spanish influences in St Augustine.
I love these episodes. I loved the Peru adventures as well. How are your relatives holding up in Peru these days?? Happy NEW Year to all. Stay healthy. Cheers.
Hola Audrey, Daniel y Sam.
This vlog made me very hungry!!! We have tamales and empanadas as well in Philippine cuisine, empanadas is one of my favourite foods. Argentina is definitely on my bucket list.
The fillings are similar to the ones found in Latin American empanadas, usually ground meat and veggies. Ham and cheese is my favourite one but I also had one with pork and mango purée.
Great Vid as usual guys. I just found out that my local Italian Pizzeria/Restaraunt in Paisley, Scotland is now offering Churro's and hot-chocolate. Loved the combination and that's down to finding out about them on your channel. Ideal after a long morning walk in -2, clear weather. Looking forward to watching the rest of the series guys.
I thought that Tamales was Mexican. Also, Audrey's dad should be in every video, I like him. He's a good role model for any child. Enjoy your time together.
Hello family that rich food, empanadas, coffee, bills, style so, but so European good airs makes it so special. Congratulations.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos The ones my Grandmother made were usually peach and cherry. They are handy to eat on the go. Love your Argentina series. I hope one day to visit Patagonia.
Rainy day? What are we gonna do? EAT 😋😋. I've heard about Las Violetas but never been there, only to Tortoni. Gotta go next time I'm in Bs.As. Tamales and Humitas look like what we call here in Brazil "pamonha", mainly found in the central part of Brazil. I also didn't know anything about the museum behind Casa Rosada. It seemed so interesting! I forgot Audrey, but is your dad from Buenos Aires? I know he is Argentinian, just don't remember the city. Wish you a wonderful 2021, may the new year bring us hope of better times yet to come, and lots of trips! Wish us all can be back on the road (safe, with no more COVID-19 🙏) again!
You forget the most important influence ... the Spanish ... hehe that's why Argentina is spoken Spanish, it is Catholic due to the great immigration of Spaniards during the Viceroyalty, in the 19th and 20th centuries and San Martín was Spanish of grandparents Spanish (peninsular), and fought in Bailén, Jaén (Spain) against the French. Tell you that I love your channel ... I learn a lot of English with you and also where to eat and have breakfast when you travel. Thank you very much and Happy new year 2021
Argentina seems a very dangerous country for diabetics! I know that Buenos Aires is by far the best when it comes to food, but which other cities would you consider have an extensive food scene? From your videos I would guess Mar del Plata, Bariloche, and Salta. Mendoza and Cordoba too from sheer size. I'm leaning towards Salta especially after your videos on northern food.
Thanks Kenneth! Indeed, some the other bigger cities have excellent food. We'll actually have a food guide to Bariloche coming out later in the series and Mar Del Plata is especially good for seafood. The interesting aspect is that cuisine changes a bit as do the landscapes, so more fish along the coastal side, lamb in Patagonia and savoury corn and bean dishes in the north.
Wow, looking forward to your Bariloche guide! I've enjoyed the food aspect of all of your videos, but Argentina's food seems to tick off every box of a foodie paradise for me. Malaysia a close second.
I agree .. Argentina is called Europe in South America. I love the architecture in Buenos Aires .. I feel like I'm in Europe. Btw, Sam is clean shaven .. looks so fresh and he looks like a little boy .. so cute .. haha :-)
nice!!!! We eat those in Bolivia too. It seems Bolivia has "borrowed" a lot of food from Argentina. I wonder if Argentina has borrowed any food from Bolivia!
Comment #2: The food looked absolutely delicious and I'd devour the empanadas and the breakfast you guys had. But I'm not gonna lie, I do not like Argentinean or Chilean wine. I just can't get used to that alcohol aftertaste. European wine is much better.
Thanks Tim! Do you have a favourite wine from Europe? We've had great ones from Spain and Portugal especially and some nice underrated ones from Georgia, Croatia, Albania.
Hola.
