Nicely done. The BDR organization is a treasure. Thanks for continuing to put out amazing routes that benefit riders everywhere. We owe you! Hope to ride NorCal this year.
This summer I’m going from AZ to Maine, then all the way across Canada, then down to connect the WA/OR/and CA BDRs back to AZ. 18,000 miles can’t wait! Thanks BDR for all you do. 👍🏼
Sweet! Was already planning the retirement ride from Banff to the Mexican border on the Great Divide Ride, now I'll work my way back into BC on the BDR's!!!!!
The "main route" is big bike friendly for a moderately skilled rider, while the optional "hero" sections offer some really fun challenges. You're going to love NorCal!
The two "Hero" sections I saw are the Sierra Buttes Lookout ( the Fire lookout they are on a the end.) and Mt Patterson. Both are in and outs, not Big bike friendly but doeable if you want to exert that much effort. Ive done both on FE350S wIth no issues. I might try the Buttes with the T7 but Mt Patterson is a no go for the T7...just not worth the challenge for me. There's a line where you are concentrating so much on the task that you can't look around and enjoy the scenery. It's more fun for me to enjoy the scenery along the way than struggle through the task and enjoy the begining , mid point stops and end.
@@Jroblet Yeah, I broke my leg on one of the OR-bDR hero routes on my T7. Would rather not repeat. Thanks for the input, I'll have to see if I can find footage of the Sierra Buttes route.
Its May now and its still not out and nobody from RideBDR is responding to questions asking when it will be out. Come one guys....what's taking so long? Upload it already!
alot of these trails i know like the back of my hand, years riding ATV & SXS there, im at an awe these guys rode up patterson etc in a GS. If i didnt care to much about crashing my GS id risk it but na. good job guys
Yes, Zero is one of the sponsors on this project and two riders were on Zero DSR-Xs. They had a blast on the route, check out the film starting February 17th to see them in action!
Looks really good. Will add to the list to investigate. Is it 4x4 friendly or any super narrow sections? Will have to look into it after we go back and finish the cabdr south. Got blocked by snow last winter in Death Valley. Thanks for putting it together! 👍 🛻 🏍️
Greatly anticipated news!!! Can’t wait for the full movie. Tacos Y Motos will absolutely be doing a SoCal & NorCal BDR adventure episode in the future for sure!
This looks great. I just got the SoCal old school map - fun planning some rides! NorCal also looks quite varied of course! Love Sterling’s work and editing, some falls are part of it too ha.
As a novice rider who has taken my fair share of spills on trails, it's re-assuring to see more experienced riders do the same. All it takes is a split second for things to get out from under you, there's not even time to react. This journey looked epic!
When are you going to release the full video on RU-vid, it’s not possible for me to attend one of the in person presentations. Would be great to know the RU-vid release date, thanks!!!
@@FathomThisab - You guys have a great time without me. I loved the Mojave high desert in the 80's, when Joshua Tree was a national monument. Great memories but I can't go back so I'll camp in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona.
In a normal snow year starting the route mid June might find snow in a few higher elevations. FYI we had record snowfall in the Sierra's and portions of the route were still blocked by snow in Mid July. In a low snow year about the earliest would be Mid May. You could ride until the first significant snowfall which is typically late October, but there is a section with a hard closure Nov 1st.
The bigger bikes are better on the highways when riding from and to locations. I wont trailer to a location nor do i have the team or time to move the truck and trailer to the end of the BDR
Mostly all the marketing? :) .. Realistically though, BDRs can vary in difficulty and how much pavement there is, so in some cases an adv is more than capable enough and more comfortable for some, and all but the absolute hardest are pretty easy even on a bigger adv with enough experience. I'd personally prefer something like a 690 or dr650 because riding a GS offroad to me feels like overlanding an F-350, even if it's doable it's less fun.
What looked really difficult? It’s a bunch of dirt roads. If you show up decent tires and some intelligence you’ll be fine. Don’t show up on some 50/50 garbage, get something with some knobs
The "main route" is big bike friendly for a moderately skilled rider, while the optional "hero" sections offer some really fun challenges. You're going to love NorCal!
Probably not the "most beginner-friendly" BDR but we did try and make the main route doable as someone's first BDR as long as they had dirt skills on a big bike. We had record snowfall in the Sierra's last winter and unfortunately some of the "easier" sections have short sections that got washed out making them a bit more difficult from when we first scouted them. Regarding the Trailer...... makes for more interesting video :) But, there are miles and miles of blissful two-track on this route.
