Getting close to Northern Gannets at RSPB Bempton Cliffs is an unforgettable experience.The Northern Gannets nesting colony at Bempton create a spectacular sight, sound and smell. Bempton Cliffs Gannets collect in huge numbers during the breeding season with over 13000 nesting pairs at England's only mainland Gannet nest colony. Northern Gannets are the largest seabird in northern Europe and eastern North America and getting close to them at this spectacular nesting colony is a memorable experience. In this video I take you to Bempton Cliffs in North East England to share with you the spectacular numbers of Gannets and talk about their lifestyle.

It is an amazing place. I went to university close to Bempton Cliffs so I have visited many times. It is always special though.

We get Northern Gannets here in Florida too but only in winter months. Beautiful birds and so cool to see how they dive in. 👍

Absolutely. Unfortunately boat trips were not running when I visited which meant I wasn't able to get footage of them plunge-diving which, as you mentioned, really amazing to see.

It is an incredible sight. If you are in UK between April-July get yourself to Bempton Cliffs in East Yorkshire. You will never forget it.

You're welcome. No, I have not tried. There is one available at Runde. It nests about five thousand there. Also some others, but only accessible by boat.

Wonderful, Nick! What a sight to see. Say, about 1:49 in, and also at 1:58 (same nest footage), what is the blacker bird to the lower right? A booby of some sort? Thanks again for your great videos!

Common Guillemot (Common Murre). There are many thousands of these nesting at Bempton too. Currently working on a video about all the nesting seabirds of Bempton Cliffs in which the Guillemots will feature along with Razorbill, Atlantic Puffin, Northern Fulmar and Black-legged Kittiwake.
