Hey jorge. This is a little off topic but I thought I'd share this if you haven't heard of it before. It's called the venturi effect. Just Google "wort aeration homebrewtalk" if you have time and click on the second link. It seems to work very well and super cheap. Plus you won't end up with a ton of foam when you aerate. Hope its useful

I am not a big lager guy, so other than lambics I don't know much about aged hops... where did you get yours? Which strains did you use? Are the aged hops cheesy smelling (before used in the boil)?

Altbier with a lager strain? Altbier is traditionally fermented with a top fermenting yeast(ale). Altbier technically is not a lager!!

Yes, I came across that soon after I uploaded this... have you tried it? mine happened by accident since my tubing became somewhat warped and wasn't sure how to replicate it, but now I know... I'll probably make a video to help get the word out... mine doesn't really pull in new air, but I found it works just great, so I expect that to work even better! Cheers!

I buy hops fresh from my LHBS, put them in a brown paper bag and leave them in a shelf in the garage... the key is to use low alpha acid hops... noble hops preferably... the cheesy smell will go away after a month and a half or two months and you can use them from that point forward... you'll see them brown up and that's when you know you're good to go... high AA% hops will smell cheesy, so don't use those... Cheers!

The title caught my eye puzzled what a "northern Alt" is - now I know, a Lower Rhine style Alt :D Great that you pointed out the distinctions to the Duesseldorf Alt style.

That's great. Not yet but I'm trying it in my next brew. I think it would be good for you to show the world through your channel. I'll let you know How it works if I do it before. Thanks!

How can i give this beer a little more bitterness ?
@Adol666

Add more Hops and cut out the Crystal/Carmel malts. You may prefer a Düsseldorf Style if you like bitterness. I add 3.5 oz of Spalter Select( about 45 IBU) to my Alt. Also I flip around the Munich and Pils malt. Use a German ale yeast I use Wyeast 1007. Ferment at 54F for 2 weeks then cold crash and lager at 36F for 2-3weeks
