A fort/village guarding the Dutch-German border. Apart from the picturesque fort and the nature trail east of it a few old landmarks - stone pillars - too.
As usual, some route information provided.
Music: Klaus Schulze, 'Private'.

I enjoyed that walk Wilco. The area of Cornwall i come from has a few large forts, they were built by Napoleonic prisoners of war and some are still used by the military today. There's a place here called Riddout/Reddout too,all to do with the fort system.I'm always intrigued by borderlands and the blurring of identities, are the folks on the German side part Dutch as well and does the language blur the borders? Thanks for sharing.Up to now i haven't given commentaries on my vids but i intend to change that at some stage next year.Andy.

Remembering the forts around Falmouth especially Andy [Pendennis & Mawes.] and quite a few Martellotowers too. But not too sure anymore if i saw the latter in Cornwall or elsewhere? About that blurred Dutch/German borderland - well, it was very blurred until our unfriendly neighbours started WWII! By now the enmity has gone completely - but the normalization of the respective languages into central-national standards did it divisive work in that respect. That said, the further integration of the EU has proved to be a very positive development for these areas!

I'm not particularly familiar with Martellotowers Wilco but am with Pendennis,English civil war - (A forgotten,to a degree, and neglected piece of British Isles history!) I've always thought borderlands to be more interesting just by their very position,as you know we on this island don't really have cultural borders anymore even though some still tend to think so! Always a believer in what W.B Yeats once said - Without a tongue without a nation,or something like that.

Fascinating area Wilco. Ijust checked out the fort. It's the oddest 15th century geometric fort I've ever seen. From above you can see it clearly. Lots of border markings but now defunct as one union, which is good I think. And hey that's a Hereford Bull right there ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h2xmZ172pEI.html my heritage in your video. I've got one coming up in my next upload. Wilco's walks I like them. Take care. Mark

In the past a lot of fighting and smuggling went on in this border-area Mark! & am still wondering how people can be this irrational wanting to leave our union of common sense collaboration and prosperity. Great to recognize that magnificent bull for a Hereford!

Yes it is irrational because do you know they (UK Brexit people) will come up against other barriers and conditions. They think the grass is greener....Yes a Hereford! Have a great weekend Wilco. Peace!
