Stock transfer or testing out newer stock on the line? Noticed what looks like test equipment in the first coach.

It was a stock transfer, the equipment is for operating a temporary tripcock to conform with the legacy signalling.

If anyone is wondering why it was there, it was off to Northfields for brake testing.

Close, but it was returning from Ealing Common Depot, the trains are being kept there whilst Northfields is being rebuilt.

That train must of been heading for the Kings Cross loop tunnel which runs off the Northbound Picadilly Line tunnel to the Southbound Northern Line Tunnel on the bank branch Northern Line...

Correct, but the loop goes to the NB tunnel with a junction to the SB from the NB.

There is a connecting line between King's Cross EB Piccadilly and Euston NB Northern City Branch.
