Brad and Cam go chasing lines on the West Montreal river near the village of Shining Tree in Northeastern Ontario. Paddlers can travel for several days downstream to the Montreal River proper, traversing the northeastern edge of Temagami.
This video gives the paddler a POV run of all the major sets encountered on the Upper-Middle Section of river. Flows were low for our run, but it's still a fun section with only 2 short portages.

I have to admire the persistence to get out on this one. You learn something on every run, no matter the conditions... testing gear or just recon for the next trip when water levels change. Gotta say I only get out 20-30 times a summer so having some content to watch is great.

Gotta love a river at all levels! Bit shallow for our liking but a good technical clinic and just an overall fun filled run.

@@alexs3447 yup. Walleye and pike. Ive fished some of the lakes on the river and have pulled up some decent sized ones before.

This one is an hour from me, have yet to try it this summer and fall was brutal for low later in the area, larder river was even nearly too low in spring 2021

Water levels were indeed really low. It was still a fun run this fall, but just technical and not anything crazy. I think running the entire upper stretch during the spring melt would make for a great moderate WW trip. snow pack is already looking decent this winter, let's hope it keeps up so we get good spring levels!
