There are 3 dancers that I'm in awe of, Aaron, Steve Hinds and Stephen Cootes... Mr Hinds is the classic old boy who's still got it, even though he's probably too young to have been at Wigan (correct me if I'm wrong there Mr Hinds), whilst Aaron and Cootes are newies, who dance hardcore old skool.. which we oldies appreciate !

A really Good cross section of what can be seen at Dances. Lad in the vest is pure Northern, like he works down a fuckin Mine all week and is not afraid of showing his moves, not an easy thing to do in the 70's, outside of Soul Clubs, other lad is just like Arteta, when he played for the Mighty Everton.... glides over the surface like The Golden Vision. The Young Lady, I've seen at many Dances and love dancing near Her, mate, she has such a graceful quality and it infects all around to add that little bit extra, a hip shake, a hand twirl pretend off balance caught just in time..Boom.was there an Loved it.
Nah, he's doing mostly hip-hop stylings and is missing his beatbox. For authenticity and poise in the NS style, the other two are in a different class.
In what way is this the 'World' Northern Soul dance championships and not just Blackpool? Do they hold a series of preliminaries worldwide, throughout the year, and then invite a varied and wide selection to represent their countries...like the Olympics or Athletics championships.?
I've seen far better dancers around the regular soul nights.. Its just the people who want the limelight that enter these competitions, not in any way the best dancers.. Much like the Casino when the cameras turned up, loads of the dancers stayed away because that wasn't what the scene was about, and still isnt..

Sorry only half decent one is the bloke in black vest ,I used to go to ,most top venues in 70s ,Wigan being main one ,he’s more old school ,that girl sorry the girls never used to dance like that ,also I agree I still love the music but when I see the olduns still dressing like they did and try dance like they did when they were teenagers it’s embarrassing
