We were pleased to fly into this new event which makes the most of the long summer evenings.
I am not a qualified flying instructor nor do I ever claim to be a very good pilot. I fly for fun and basically record for my own interest and review but upload because a number of people suggested that I should. I do try to edit for enjoyment and story telling and this means that some content is not always included.

An excellent video, Tim, and it was great to see all those light aircraft. Days like this is what GA flying is all about in our beautiful country. Also, a lovely tribute to your friend. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Cracking video Tim. What a super fly in that was and I’m so glad that we all got the chance to chat with Chris one last time. Personally speaking I had never seen him out of his car, so that was a really nice surprise! I’ll certainly miss the good humoured banter he and I used to have over the RT. He had a great sense of humour! RIP mate.

Tim, great video, love the way you fly, very much the pilot, not having a cockpit full of technology, only what you need, reminds me of my days flying with Cranwell Flying club back in the 90’s, fly the plane with your skill, great memories. Thanks.

Sad news about Chris passing away (Algy Yates mentioned it on his channel so I knew) but a small consolation is that within his last days they had a well attended successful gathering at his airfield. He always seemed a jolly, friendly person & I'm sure he will be much missed by the flying community. That yellow Pitts gave a 'sporting' departure didn't it. Nice to see the red Chilton attend too, amongst others.

@@JodelFlyer Shows people’s lack of attention rather than how good your video is. John speaking over ATC was a good example of how to be a passenger. BTW I have done the same thing many times! Much to the annoyance of my brother who was P1 at the time.
@flyingkub
@flyingkub Месяц назад
Very fitting video, Chris will be missed by all who knew him. I think you got a trainee ATC who forgot you need to fly and only have one spare hand to do transponder and do altimeter. I have never called and been given a squark and asked to pass my massage all in one go, know wonder you missed saying you would cross VFR. I think it was Ian who was saying he would see you later. The music at the end was just a cherry on the cake. Great video.
@JodelFlyer
@JodelFlyer Месяц назад
@@flyingkub Thank you Algy. Ian had me at a disadvantage as I needed him to introduce himself but it was good to hear. Yes, you are right, my radio calls were not good but I made myself fly through the zone and I will have to do better next time. 😊
@flyingkub
@flyingkub Месяц назад
@@JodelFlyer it was not your call that were poor it was the 1st controller's R/T that was poor, normally they give a breaks between instructions. It normally goes "Pass you message " so they know what service you need, then they give squawk and QNH and after that they give you permissions and instructions, that is why I think it was a new one.

Nice relaxing video, I like the Last of the Summer Wine music 😆 Have you ever done something really dumb? I recently took off without completing my pre-takeoff checks, got airborne and noticed the canopy wasn't latched. Held onto it for grim death, my pax almost freaked out, and will probably not want to fly with me again. Landed uneventfully, but I feel so stupid 😞
@JodelFlyer
@JodelFlyer Месяц назад
I’ve done lots of stupid things. On a recent trip across the channel I hit some turbulence and was lifted out of my seat. I had put on my life jacket and tied my beacon and was so trussed up I hadn’t done up my harness.

Enjoyed this video very much Tim . Of course we are at the opposite end of the Solstice calendar here , your Summer being our Winter and shortest daylight day , Sundown was 1655hrs that day . I heard of Chris Gurney passing on Algys channel . I didn’t know him , but my thoughts go out to his family and friends who would be feeling his loss greatly . May he RIP .
