My name is Tim Palmer, and my aviation channel is a platform by which I can share my flying. The Jodel I own is a DR1050 built in 1963 I have held a PPL since 1976 and I have owned or part owned a light aircraft since 1980. In December 2014 I retired from education, having been a headteacher for 17 years and a class teacher for 21 years prior to that. My aim was to create a 'ride along' aviation channel. I am not a flying instructor nor do I claim to be a good pilot. I record for my own review but edit for story telling and enjoyment so some content is not always included.
I have also used the platform to host a playlist for the British Council as part of 'Connecting Classrooms' and our link with Adukrom JHS in the Ashanti region of Ghana.
I aim to upload every Friday at 7.30am

It is a pain when you don't get the sound recorded and you have gone through all the bother of explaining things to the camera, take 2 is never as good 🙂
Great Oakley looks to be an excellent destination Tim but alas NO cafe of restaurant? Good to see John flying with you too😁😉 🙃 I'm sorry that I missed you for the Manston Fly In; I was there on the Friday with a friend and then we flew up to Beccles for a late lunch!!?? Better luck next time eh?
Haha no worries Tim! It was just an ordinary, no frills take off. Wings level, aircraft the correct way up! Mainly because I thought you would be filming 😉😂 What a super BBQ fly in Great Oakley laid on for us all. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great Oakley is such a lovely little airfield and such a great little piece of the countryside. The two of you fly so well together be it as john had the RV and you in the jodel... nice one boys crack on
Hi Tim, it was nice to see a little smile as you were coming into land. Nice job on the trimmer, it's always nice have something work correctly after a fault.
Hi Tim, I had a similar problem with the trim on my D120 and oiling it helped greatly. However, the stiffness soon came back and further investigation found that where the cable went under the tailplane, a very short length of the outer cable had rusted almost through. The rest of the outer cable was in excellent condition.
That cable oiler is a good bit of kit. Something still useful from a more industrial age, that doesn't need to have Bluetooth or a good wi-fi signal. I enjoy seeing old devices like those. The quick air test seems to have shown it all works well. Its is good that you've got a Duncan and a Rob on hand to help.
Good to see you again Tim. I had lost the connection. Trust you are all well. I see Nicola is in West End just down the road from where Claire and I used to live in Bishopstoke. I think she moved there just after we moved to Somerset. As an 'Old Geographer' I love to see Tendring from the air.
Teliflex cables are often problematic and need regular lub. Great to see John going for a flight. Good to get the young Scouts involved they are the future. Good job you don't pay a landing fee or that would become expensive (says a man who never bounces, in my dreams).
Keep the videos coming Tim, always enjoy them. Is John looking to get back in the air himself? Cheers, Patrick from New Zealand. I own a Falconar F-11, very similar to a Jodel D-11 but with a different wing and swept tail
