Northstar Miniatures Frostgrave Cultists Review 

The lovely thing about North Star plastics is they're all compatible with each other, you can mix Frostgrave bits with Oathmark and even Stargrave. They're great individual kit boxes, but that also means each sprue is a selection of ingredients really, allowing a vast amount of potential builds. I love them.

I have a set of these guys, they're great. I also have the soldiers set and a couple of others from Osprey/Northstar, yes they're compatible.

I absolutely love North Star plastics. They are so fun to kitbash since they are all compatible with each other, and it doesn't help that each kit is so inexpensive so it's very easy to go overboard. I have so many North Star sprues to the point where it's becoming a problem. The cultist kit is one of my favorites. Other ones I love have been the Knights, Gnolls, and both Wizards kits (one is male wizards the other is females. Lots of great bits on those kits). I don't have the crew set, but am looking to get it next and from what I've seen it's a solid kit. The Soldiers are their oldest kits and so are a little more rough around the edges than some of the others, but they are not bad. I'd also take a look into their Oathmark range. There is a bit less variety in the kits for weapon loadouts since it's for a rank and flank game rather than a skirmish game, but the range is all compatible with all the Frostgrave stuff and you can't beat the price. My two favorites are the human infantry, which are excellent for town guard type models as well as the elf light infantry, which has a rogue-ish vibe to them (lots of hooded and masked heads). Would also recommend Frostgrave as a game if you have any interest at all. Kind of a lightweight Mordheim variant, but a leans a bit more towards the D&D side of things (uses a d20 for everything). It's a solid ruleset and a lot of fun, and since it's model agnostic, you probably have enough models for several warbands already.

I got the cultists, gnolls, and both the male and female witches! Absolutely awesome sets and so many bits for the bit box! Even a puppet on a hand! Fantastic kits these are.

It's a great kit, I got one when it came out.

I have a bunch of Northstar mini's from both their Frostgrave & Oathmark lines (which are interchangeable/compatible) - as I've developed a bit of a habit of buying one or two sprues of each set (rather than whole boxes). And I've not been disappointed so far (as you say, they're not burdened with unnecessary clutter) - though I've not got around to painting many of them yet 😅

I just used some of these bits on a base for my Gigantic Rat.

I've played a lot of Frostgrave - its probably my favourite game of the last few years. I've got several of the plastic sets and to be honest I have never been disappointed with any of them. gnolls, warriors, female warriors, barbarians, whatever. I also am a sucker for the metal models that accompany the plastics - always a treat to be able to add to the collection.

These cultists are great for D&D, I needed a bunch for use as fanatics of the Falling Fire in my Dungeons of Drakkenheim campaign and they are perfect. Also the gnolls are good shout too.

I've gotten so much mileage out of this kit. I made a few zombies, a couple fantasy skeletons, kit bashed a few skeletons into scifi ones, and had enough left for about 10 regular cultists. All that built with just this set alone, and just four loose guns from my bits box. I absolutely got my money worth and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for cheap minis

Their Gnoll and Wizard boxed sets are really nice, but if you want to do something really cool... the Oathmark boxes are amazing. Fully compatible with Frostgrave, but designed for their mass battle game, and... they're amazing. In fact a lot of people use them for Middle-Earth miniatures because they're more "book accurate". Goblin sets are particularly nice. Also, why you're in the mindset, the designer of Frostgrave does another game called Rangers of Shadow Deep. I think you would LOVE that game Kev. D20 solo skirmish adventure game, played on a 3x3 typically. Would love to see you playing Rangers of Shadow Deep on the channel!!

Check out the Forgotten World range from Firestorm Games some useful stuff 👍 Also Oathmark figures. I think there's some Undead Peasants that are very useful

I love Frostgrave kits. I'm going to have to get some other Northstar kits and bash about! I have the Frostgrave Barbarians I & II, Wizards I & II, Soldiers II, Knights, Gnolls, and Ghost Archipelago Crewmen. There's only one minor disappointment and that's the Soldiers II facial detail is not as good as the other kits. All the kits kits designated II appear female. I started getting these in large part because the female models were dressed for the weather with sensible shoes, etc. After that I just got hooked on plastic minis of this sort. I also picked up some Wargames Atlantic Dark Age Irish Warriors and Goth Warriors which are also nice and priced well per mini. The Irish warriors are slightly less flexible though, having the left arms already attached.

It’s a cool game. They are great models.

Their gnolls are not bad either, if a tad small.

The cultists are great , very useful, the men at arms are also a good idea and the gnolls are fun but they are difficult to paint because of the poor transition between the pelt and the clothes on some models.

Those are sweet. (glances at my piles of unpainted minis) But the price is excellent... (adds to Wish List) Soon...
