I was about to suggest you could use the fruit seller as a stand in for the witch from Snow White! Actually a game set in a storybook style setting could be a lot of fun. I have a few bottles of Reaper Master Class paints and they're really nice. I need to get some more if I get back to miniature painting. I've taken a long break from that. The Reaper Master Class paints really don't need much thinning at all. They flow smoothly and have nice coverage. Fear the undead pink bandana skeleton crew!
Good video! I use Reaper Paints a lot and quite like them but as I live in a hotter part of old Oz I find I have to use the pin on the nozzles a fair bit unlike Army Painter or Vallejo dropper bottles. The paint job on the miniatures turned out great!
Found a perfect formula for my orc flesh with those french made gw paints. Then few years pass and all my old paints died. Tried again with new gw paints. And nowhere near as happy with the results💀
Better? depends. I will agree it outdoes anything from 2nd edition forward. I will also say Warhammer 1 and 2nd editions are also better. I like the superior setting dynamics the grittier aspects and the lack of play balance pandering. Everything D&D 2nd forward has been too much about mollycoddling players that just want to have everything spelled out, no imagination required. And heaven forbid a PC actually dies. BECMI and AD&D 1st are good games. But the game was increasingly whored out for the sake of selling books. Anyone buying D&D 5th 2024 has more money than brains. Warhammer adventures are vastly more fun. D&D is just an endless series of monsters to bash in Dungeons. No politics intrigue or real reason to roleplay.
I did find you through Kraken Week. I'll have to watch your terrain building at some point, but alas, my own nautical game is being played online so that won't do me much good for gaming.
Kev count your blessings you don't know the toxic burnout that is ginny d and her fanboys. The very next books I buy for Mystara will be Irendi and Minrothad Guilds. I've been toying with the idea of creating a nautical themed game in a setting very similar to the Spanish Main.
The Spanish main theme is very much what I am leaning Into with mine. Kuritiba in ierendi is tortuga pretty much and minrothad guilds are the east India trading company etc
@@TheBattlinBarrowGaming I am thinking of taking inspiration from the East Empire Company and the Imperial Legion from Elder Scrolls. The imperial power of my world has several legions in the region but its governed by paid for figures from the EEC.
So what stage one I introduced these suits that were kind of like ancient diving suits and incredibly difficult to work in with massive negatives. But they got the hint of magical necklaces that would let someone from under sea function in the upside world without penalty and vice versa. So what was the background for the under sea ship? I don’t know if I want to do DSV.
Yep, the tubes at, if you’re in the US at Hobby lobby or any of the other hobby stores have sea creature sets. In fact, you can get just general sea creature sets that work pretty good if you just give them a wash. But yes, reaper does a great set of shark man and other underwater creatures.
Incidentally, if you don’t have the money for the above headlight, you can get clear plastic at Walmart really cheap. Then you can get some of the glass spray paint that is designed to do glass or light blue and just spray paint that clear and put it over any dungeon map or desert map and it will work.
17:45 interesting how even at a table like yours you still get players contesting rules like combat reactions Edit: have you ever done a video on your “twists”? I saw for D20 rolls of 20’s and 1’s you were using at least a “fumble” table; that’s interesting. Is it in the 5e DMG or some other WOTC material, or homebrew?
I own the random encounters book but i forgot how useful it can be. I like how you talk about how you use these things during your creative process; that’s the best takeaway for me
Despite being a Yank and despite the ‘new’ AFF (which is solid), I found the new games based on the original FF RPG are better still. Troika! is likely the biggest but Spellzard! Is wonderfully total FF and super rules-lite and just what the original FF RPG may ought be today…and it is! This Yank highly recommends it! I hope you explore it and enjoy it! Cheers! 🙂
This box set was my introduction to Ravenloft, so it will always have a place in my heart. I still think the golden age of Ravenloft was the 3rd edition stuff printed by White Wolf. Especially the Gazetteers which are strangely hard to get these days. (A lot of the 3rd edition books are strangely not on Drivthrurpg.)
Yep this box was mine too. I can remember getting it. We had been up all night playing the intro to 2nd Ad&D box and theres a haunted house adventure in there and we liked the horror so all went down to the game store (still without sleep) and picked this up. Ive never looked into the White Wolf stuff, Iwill try to track some down
The White Wolf published sourcebooks are mostly really good. But they have very few of them up on Drivethrurpg. Just the main setting books and like two sourcebooks.. (Actually the two worst sourcebooks of that era strangely.) But you definitely want to seek out the 5 Gazetteers, Legacy of Blood, The Van Richtens Guide to The Walking Dead, Mists, and Shadow Fey, and Dark Tales & Disturbing Legends.
I have been using these guys for around 9 months, quite reasonable prices here in Australia. They used to be printed in the UK then sent here, but now they are printed here instead, saves a LOT on postage. I pay around $15AUD for express delivery (around 4 working days), used to be around 3 weeks (and $16AUD standard mail) from the UK! Looking to replace all that I lost over the years.
Totally agree with your opinion that 5th and 6th are the definitive warhammer editions (especially rules/gameplay wise) and with your approach of running the oldhammer rules and then cherry picking any of the modern rules/tweaks that improve to the gameplay (it’s exactly what I plan to do when I get back into it - in the process of planning an army!)
One note, you don't lose consciousness immediately at 0 hp, but get like a critical prone, it's when you've been at 0 hp consecutively for your toughness bonus rounds you lose consciousness. So your still able to fight but are very precarious, that's at least from the first rule book.
I just finished this on a few months back. I made some changes to work in some things that have happened in the larger campaign , one big change was Kalnakaa was a wereshark!
I was actually considering doing the same but have decided to leave him as a devil swine. I was planning on having the Kara Kara as more fishmen deepone type things and a wereshark but running it as is now.
Gah sometimes the written word sounds harshing on read back. SOrry these comments from me were not meant to sound so harsh. I do appreciate your feedback to makes these videos better. I was somewhat happy as I was goign to turn up the audio as I said, on my systems (I try it on many) it seemed low in the mix to me. So I have turned it down for this weekends session.
@@TheBattlinBarrowGaming I for one did not read anything in your reply as harsh. You were just explaining the situation. I've only been a few live-streamed games, but I can see how there could be some friction between what's best at the table, for the Players, vs. what's best for online viewing.
I like the look of it. I am considering that and www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/133973/cal1-calidar-in-stranger-skies because I know my group, now they have seen airships, are going to want one.
I just paid the postage for my copy, can’t wait for it to arrive! Do all those extra goodies come with everybody’s copy of the book? EDIT: Ignore me I checked my pledge level (Fire Demon) and I think I will receive the same goodies you have, plus it will be Hardback so even better! It was so long ago I pledged I’d forgotten exactly what I was getting. But the book is great, I’ve been reading the PDF copy that came through on and off for the past few weeks and am already hooked. I’ll try not to read anymore until I have the physical copy in my hands!
