This is a beautifully rebuilt Commando Roadster probably a '71 but it's not a '72 Combat. '72 was the first year for the disc which is absent here. The '72 cylinder head is ground down, meant to increase the compression to 10/1 and this bike does not have the modified head. The manifolds on this bike are 30 mm but the Combat has 32 mm manifolds for 32 mm carbs.
This Commando is definitely not a '72. The '72 Combat had front disc not twin leading shoe drum, black barrels not silver, shaved cylinder head which this does not, and 32mm carbs and manifolds because this bike has 30mm manifolds. The pin striping around the tank logo is not even close to being accurate. Nice '71 though.
Hi Robert, Thanks for the comment, we wholeheartedly agree that it is a 71 model Commando.. however due to the bike being first registered in 1972 on all the paperwork it must be a late registered bike.
