I am sure there are other people who knew this already, but I bet many, like myself did not. I just discovered this for myself today and I thought it might be of interest to some others.
Have done rebuilds of Matchless G2CSR and G5 boxes. When they're put together properly and you have a decent clutch, they are actually very good boxes.
G'day Paul, thanks for that information as l have two Matchless motorcycles a 500 & 350 singles both from 1957, and having the same gearbox it may come in handy if a rebuild is required, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
@@paulhenshaw4514 hi Paul, l had AJS 350 once and while l was at trade school someone stole it and l never saw it again, thanks for the reply your the best, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
I had a similar problem with an a65. Can't remember which gear was jumping out,but the cogs were the same, I swapped the cogs so the dogs were good. No more jumping out of gear. Great channel Paul.
Interesting. So 2nd mainshaft gear is identical to the 3rd layshaft. I suspect too you could build up the dogs with some weld and shape them back, perhaps even under cut them to stop them dropping out
His ideas of modular construction were a pipe dream not grounded in reality. Never went beyond drawings. They should have been concerned about reliability and dependability of their present products and not fanticizing about products that they were incapable of producing.@@nigeljohnson505
I agree, I can barely hear using headphones on an iPad. I’ll admit to severe hearing loss, but I don’t have problems with most YT channels and the adverts (curse ‘em) always come through loud and clear. Les
