Norton Nemesis V8 Rebuild - Episode 15

In this video I will be continuing with the rebuild, re fitting the fuel injection system and tackling the wiring and fitting the fuel tank then starting the engine for the first time in the bike.
Note: All parts will be thoroughly cleaned before final assembly, so any debris , swarf dust of dirt seen under macro cinimatography in this video will be cleaned off before the final assembly..
The Norton Nemeses is a pre production prototype that was made in the late 90's with claims of a 200+mph top speed from its 1500cc fuel injected V8 engine.
As far as I'm aware, this is the only bike that has survived but if any of you know of other bikes please leave a comment. This bike is owned by the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham UK has been on display as a non running exhibit for many years.
I have already worked on the bike last year getting the engine to run after a few rudimentary checks, new oil and batteries for series 12 of Henry Cole's "The Motorbike Show" where Henry rode it for a few miles up to around 50 mph, but it wasn't running very well and was leaking a lot of oil and coolant.
Episodes of "The Motorbike show" can be seen on itvx player on line and some shorter edits are available on Henrys RU-vid channel.
Over the coming months I will be stripping the bike to sort out a few issues with the V8 engine and hopefully make it run and ride how it was intended 25 years ago.

Yes, an introduction to British cooking. Ginger Nuts are known in the USA as Ginger Snaps. UK biscuits are called cookies in the US. There is no direct equivalent to US biscuits in the UK except some similarity to the scone. The sweetener called Golden Syrup is unique to the UK, with no direct US equivalent.

@woopimagpie
@woopimagpie День назад
@@rossmacintosh5652 Golden Syrup is an Australian invention originally, made from cane sugar (of which we have huge plantations in Queensland and northern New South Wales). I presume the English version would be the same given that for many years it was exported from Australia to all over the world. Not sure if it still is. I guess different places have their own different version of it these days. My Nan always called Golden Syrup "Cocky's Joy", Australian bushmen were (and often still are) called "Cockys" and the Golden Syrup was often part of their rations. As a kid I used to think "Cocky's" referred to the Cockatoo (a common large white parrot, known the world over these days) because they love Golden Syrup spread on small pieces of bread, but it's really the old bush cockys it's referring to. Thanks for reading. This concludes today's interesting history lesson, lol.
@woopimagpie
@woopimagpie День назад
@@loboheeler Ahem, sorry to correct you, but Golden Syrup is not unique to the UK. It's an Australian invention, it was exported to the UK from Australia for many years. Here in Australia it's very common, you can buy it in the sugar section of any supermarket, and is the key ingredient required to make our famous Anzac biscuits, which are also available everywhere here. I reckon just about every Australian kitchen has a bottle of it somewhere. I know mine does. See my other comment for a bit more history. Cheers from down under 🙂

Norton should have had Allen build this bike in the first place. The rebuild would be unnecessary in that case. Mr. Millyard is a mechanical genius.

You do realise there is a world of difference between a clean sheet design process and all the financial and logistical pressures that flow from that, and tinkering with a finished product?

@@stephenscholes4758 Allen is not a tinkerer. If you think he is then you are unfamiliar with his body of work. He has designed and built many bicycles and motorcycles that would be the envy of any design engineer. I suggest you watch his other content and then come back with a response.

@@stevenleonard7219 I am aware of his work...but stitching together cylinder barrels or putting car engines into frames is a WORLD AWAY from tabula rasa, corporate design engineering. Sorry, I think it's you that is quite cock-eyed

Once again, I was really impressed by your excellent skills in assembling the machine while meticulously fixing the defects. I also enjoy your humorous scenes of your wife making sweets and observing lovely animals gathering in the garden.The ginger cookies this time looked delicious, but the most enjoyable part of this video for me was the scene where you showed us a tachometer rotation test using a lawn mower engine. I think the next video will finally complete the restoration of this monster machine, and I look forward to the next one.

This engine is something like the mathematical inverse of a Kawi 2stroke, such complexity and strange design choices🤯 Huge cudos for even assembling the thing👍

24 screws holding the air box, and you have to clean and replace rtv whenever you remove it. Genius engineering there. Allen - not one of us would blame you if you got a little electric ratchet or impact driver just for running screws in and out!
