Sorry but Dennis Miller is a California boy I know in my heart of hearts he had the best pastrami sandwiches when he was working in New York and all the comments you see of people saying it’s the bomb they’re all from California I’ve been there it sucks with a S and I’m from Jersey
The hot pastrami DIP is the Southern California way to eat it... on a Hoagie roll with nothing more than mustard. Been doing that in Los Angeles since the 1920s.
Topps Jr on Main St near Freemont in Alhambra, Ca it puts The Hat to shame. I recall going to both Topps and The Hat in Alhambra with my dad as a child in the 60's we bought one from each place for the taste test. Topps Jr by far has the most tender, tasty and stacked pastrami dip sandwich. They did back then and still do today. The pastrami, mustard and pickles on the roll is so good. It just melts in your mouth. An older of fries is like a shoebox full and they are really fresh great tasting fries. Topps Jr. is still at the same location and it's still a dive that doesn't appear to be much of a fast food joint, and if you blink you may miss it because its street presence isn't very noticeable. They have a tiny parking lot in back for maybe 5 cars and some street parking. Today they are by far even better than The Hat because the Hat declined in quality and quantity since they branched out to several locations. Give Topps Jr a try. You won't regret it. I will drive there to get a pastrami or ve disappointed with anything else nearby. I even have a Hat not far from me now in Glendora. I will go to Alhambra for Topps any day.
Ohh how I miss my California pastrami sandwiches..moved away 10 years ago and have not found a sandwich that even comes close 😔 I now live in New Mexico .
Pastrami fries: Cook up some russet potato fries all nice and crispy and toss w/ kosher salt; Pastrami , pepperoncini, and bacon in a skillet w/ butter until fragrant, get some cheap-ass cheese sauce and heat that shit up; mix that all together in a 500 degree oven with some shredded cheddar on top until melty. Drizzle w/ homemade ranch dressing. Boom! Perfect drunk snack.
It may not be as good as Katz's, but if they are using the proper cut of meat for pastrami from the navel area of the cow, and use the right spices, and cook it properly, you can make a pretty rightous pastrami. If you use the brisket you are not going to get the proper tenderness of pastrami with that melt in your mouth flavor. Brisket is for corn beef, and although it is also delicious, and can be tender, it is not going to match the tenderness of pastrami.
@T3dUbZzBOii 36 Wait is it really 31$ for a Pastrami sandwich there? I've never been so i'm honestly curious. No thanks i'll get a super good steak instead for that price.
Sorry, Katz is King, Cali has some runner-ups but get off the plane at JFK and go straight to Katz, have it on Rye with mustard and the case is closed. then have a nap.
LauraNYC Laura is Katz still open? I thought I heard they or another famous deli downtown were closing their doors late last year. I hope not. Katz is amazing. Many evenings after class at university over bridge in jersey we’d take the tunnel for sandwiches. Nothing better
The guy has a drawer full of cold sliced so-called pastrami which he then throws on a flat top to fry it up crisp. One customer said admiringly "it tastes just like bacon!"". I just watched in stunned disbelief as Guy acted like this was all cool.
I will tell you one item that is good on pastrami though, and that is softened butter on the bread, also, if you decide to eat somewhere that is far less expensive, try softened butter on turkey pastrami, it is good, and cost about 1/3 the price of most beef pastrami sandwiches.
OK, you got a shit-kicker and a soft, suburban boy from Pittsburgh raving about a pastrami on white bread, then some rube says, "The pastrami basically tastes like bacon." That should tell you all you need to know.
People should eat what they like, but if you crisp up the pastrami until it tastes like bacon, with the average price of pastrami sandwiches, you could get a 1 to 2 pound bacon sandwich for less money, i am confused a little on this one.
Real deli never would serve this is the gentiel Santa Barbara version cooked on griddle real deli meat comes out of steamer hot not a grill like bacon pastrami is not Jewish bacon freaking goohem
That's how I like to see Dennis Miller! So the dude no longer acts, oh well, but I don't get all the Republican comedy and frequent appearances on the Bill O'Reilly Show. I think more people would know who the hell Dennis Miller is if he stuck with his original talent which used to be acting! Not sure what happened to his acting career, maybe he had a falling out with Jeff Katzenburg or something....you knows?
Probably All of Hollywood tried to rape him, or force him to watch producers rape children so that he could get acting work. So he said no and does a radio show from Santa Barabara...where people dont whore themselves out to work....#Metoo style.

Wow Guy. SMH how can you eat that with pastrami dog with a fork. You disappointed all citizens of flavor town You should be very ashamed Please go make up for this crime don’t let us down
I doubt it would even matter to any of them. But, from experience try being white and walking into a black establishment if you want some excitement. Do you always see color in your life?
