I have also been to 27 countries, having added #27 just a few weeks ago. Norway has also been my favorite by a pretty wide margin. In our case, we didn't go to Oslo other than to go to the airport (well outside the city) but we started in Bergen and worked our way slowly up to Alesund over several days and then turned inland to Lillehammer. The whole thing was amazing.

@@panoramictravels So nice that you got to experience some nice summer days in Norway, also in Lofoten. If you aim to experience the northern lights, you may be lucky, but also not so lucky. Some rent a car, so they are free to drive themselves to where the northern lights can be found, whether it is in northern Norway, Sweden or Finland - or in Alaska, for sure. Others take the trip on the spur of the moment, and travel when they know that the northern lights have been announced. Not only are you dependent on clear weather, the northern lights must also be present. I grew up in Finnmark, the farthest north of Norway, and have experienced the northern lights many times. In recent years, there have been fantastic conditions for the northern lights, but since I now live in the far south of Norway, I haven't seen much of it for a couple of decades. If you miss the northern lights, you can experience Alta ice hotel, Polaria/Tromsø Aquarium, dog sledding, whale watching as well as the Sami culture, Scandinavia's indigenous people. Finnmark otherwise has wonderful summer nights to offer, with midnight sun and nights as bright as day. If you're lucky with the weather, sure.

You missed the Ve in the Lo-Ve islands....The(masculine) LOfoten Islands aren't complete without the(feminine) VEsterålen islands right north of where you where...... "too bad" ...Oh well, maybe next time? 🤔 Other than that, beautiful cinematography and pictures. 👍👍
Norway is more than it's stereotypical fjords and in general west coast scenery... sure, it's beautiful but going for all the classic tourists traps won't really give you anything you can't look up online on Wikipedia. And dunno why your guide isn't actual Norwegian. We've only been attacked and invaded by Nazi Germany during WW2. The rest was unions, both with Sweden and Denmark.
Thank you for watching the video and providing some feedback. I'm just a guy who likes to travel and share our travels with others. It's my retirement hobby. With only 12 days in the country there is only so much we can do or see. We certainly agree about the beauty of Norway, and, of course, as a tourist in Norway we are going to do some "touristy" things. It's like if you went to Arizona you would probably visit the Grand Canyon. I saw the Grand Canyon for the first time about 14 years ago. Seeing it in person far surpassed any photo I had ever seen of it (or anything I could read in Wikipedia). We do enjoy walking tours, but we don't get to pick our guides (or their country of origin). We do know to take what they say with a grain of salt. We may return to Norway some day. Can you offer some suggestions of what we should want to see or do during that visit?

And you can legally walk pretty much everywhere. Read up on the Norwegian freedom to roam laws. But essentially it's illegal to restrict your movement on private property most of the time. There's rules like respecting peoples privacy, not disturbing animals, not leaving fence gates open, no littering, no trampling crops etc... We like to take walking tours to get information on the area, but I guess we need to be a little skeptical about the information we get. Thank you for your grammatical correction, also. I didn't realize that the "en" in Bokbyen meant "the". As for Nat'l, that is how we abbreviate National in the US.
@@panoramictravels Your guide was right: Denmark did indeed have military campaigns in Norway - e.g. The Battle of Hjörungavágr between Håkon Jarl and the Danes (the biggest Viking battle on Norwegian soil) in 986, and King of Denmark Christian III's campaigns during the spring of 1537, to mention only two occasions. Norway under Danish rule was never good for Norway. Even in Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt you can read about Firehundreårsnatten (The 400 year Night). Ibsen refers to the historical fact of 434 years of darkness for our nation under foreign rule: beginning with the Norwegian King Håkon VI's death in 1380, through the Kalmar Union of 1397 under Denmark (from 1388 to 1523, also Sweden was in the union) until the Kiel Peace Treaty of 1814, where Norway wasn't even invited, and was instead unknowingly given as spoils of war from the Danish King Frederik VI to enter another union under Swedish rule! The war that lead to this treaty was between Denmark and Sweden, fought on their soil. For no other reason than being under Danish rule, Norway lost the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland to Denmark, after almost a thousand years as Norwegian territory. Norway has never accepted the Kiel Treaty - Norway even had a short war with Sweden that year, the 14 Day War of 1814, to make that point very clear. At least, Sweden gave Norwegians freedom of speech/press from 1814 on, which Denmark never gave us. And there are many famous great "Danes", not only Ludvig Holberg, that were actually Norwegians, born and raised. Yes, Firehundreårsnatten really means something to Norwegians. History shows there were so many events, provocations, disputes, power struggles, and even wars. I think you can trust the professional guide - she did a good job. Thanks for a great video! Oslo was attacked by the Danish king Erik Emune in 1137. Swedes attacked Akerhus fortress several times. And she is right. There are only a few hours sailing from Sweden up the Oslo fjord.
