Join our Norwegian family winter holiday trip up into the north of Sweden.
The Norwegian winter holiday is a school holiday where the kids get a whole week off from school. My wife is a teacher so she in turn gets the week off.
During this week you can see, what feels like, the half of the population in Norway escaping the busy city life and heads for the winter mountains.
As so many times before we drive north to visit my parents in law so my wife can meet her parents and our kids can get to hang out with their grand parents.
We ski, sled, snowmobile and have a general fun time in the snow. Even the grownups can't help them self having fun.

Family time is so important and this video is a tribute too that. My way of paying back all the time spent editing Land Rover Videos. 😅 Hope you like it, we definitely had fun in the snowy mountains in Sweden. 🏔❄👌

Yeah, was a great drive and time for the whole family. Good thing about being able to work from "home". 😊 We do 2-3 trips a year up north, and have done for the past 19 years. 😊 I now know the roads by heart and could probably drive up blind. 😂

What a lovely family you have Simon. I can't believe how much the girls have grown since I met them. It looks like you all had an amazing time and had the chance to recharge your batteries, (now time to change the one in the D3 😂) beautiful scenery and great editing especially the drone footage spliced in. I know it does take you time to do these videos but we really appreciate it and the fact that you bring Norway and Sweden on to our screens. I hope to be back next year😁👍🏻 take care 😁😎

Thank you Simon, they are still growing. The oldest is now taller than my wife. 😂 The D3 tends to come second when time is in short supply, but I did change the battery and it was very happy with me after that. No it's just the rest. 😅 The videos have taken longer time of late, as I have been working hard on my new business. Positive problem as it is going well so far. But my point, I'm glad to hear that the effort and time spent is noticed, I was well pleased with the lighting in some of those shots. 👌 Glad you enjoyed the video and I hope to see you back here next ear. I working hard to get my brother on board for next years big 40 trip, need to start planning that soon. Best, Simon.

Loved seeing a simple and happy family time vlog in the beautiful snow, my friend... Been a while since i watched anything on youtube, since living in my own apartment in France now, since end of January this year... still need a flat screen tv and a 3 piece sofa bed for my livingroom, hence why watching youtube on my laptop just doesn't feel the same as it used to be when i lived and worked in Mauritius... P.S Glad to see you're still going on strong Simon... keep it up my friend...

Thank you so much and good to hear the move has gone well. The things like sofa and Tv is second in line of what's important. I have come to the realisation that if I can get up in the morning with no stress and can drink my morning coffee either alone, or with good people, I'm basically happy with my life. 😊 Everything else is a bonus. I'm doing much better now thanks, after quitting my job last year and starting my own small business. Why the videos are longer apart, but I will keep on making them as I love the hobby of making videos and sharing the fun with likeminded people. 👍 Best, Simon.

It's amazing how well the interiors on these ( I hate saying it ) older land rovers have held up yours still looks great and my L322 Range Rover looks good too.

Old, no no, just young adult, hehe. I like the interior and the rugged feel to the Disco and L322. The best feature of the interior is that you can use it with gloves on. 🤙😊 Try that in a Tesla. 😂

Absolutely agree that family time is important, making memories that last a lifetime, thanks for sharing your family vacation. Nice views as always, and such an epic event seeing the planets aligned like that, I've never seen that before, in fact I'm unsure whether this could be seen from the southern hemisphere.

Thank you Peter! Family is so important and I think we all appreciate these times spent together. And as you say, memories for life. I can remember my own good times spent with my grand parents, so hoping the kids will have similar memories. I'm not really sure it is possible to see the planets align like that down south, since you need the the sun to set and get the reflection to line up. I didn't think to much about it at the moment but realising after that this was kind of a big deal. I think a month after you get the full alignment with all the planets and it could be seen if you had binoculars. :) It's really spectacular being in the mountains there as you get so little light-inteference, got some nice shots on my camera of the milkyway too.

Together with the family in a cosy cabin, having fun in the snow, relaxing, simple yet delicious dinner to conclude the days ... quality time! My MY08 TDV6 rattles and shakes as well below 0°C. That's why I always pre-heat the engine with the FBH.

Quality time indeed. 👌 Rattle is a good word for it, I haven’t yet gotten the plug-in adapter for the FBH so no preheat for me sadly. Maybe build a fire underneath the bash plate next time. 😂 Would be nice with the Defa-warmup system too, heats the coolant and charges the battery at the same time. Maybe on the next Disco. 😅

@@LandRoverDrive Just wire the Webasto 1533 to the FBH, and wire a GSM relay to the 1533s instant heat button. Cheap and easy.

Another great fim Simon 👍 Enjoyed the background music on the journey up. Where's it from? The coughing noise on startup might be one or two of the glow plugs on the way out 😮 Easy enough to check. PITA to fix.

Hey and thank you! 😊 The music is from epidemic sound, it's a licensing solution for video creators. The song is Knockin on Whoever's Door - The Big Let Down - And I agree, great song, the music really sets the tone of the clips you are seeing. I spent a bit of time on getting the music right, a bit too much time. The glow plugs are change some years ago so knew this wasn't the problem. The battery was about 6 or 7 years old so really not in a good state at this point, which was shown in how it struggled to get the proper crank speed. Thanks again, and glow plugs is a good suggestion on any diesel with starting issue. Best, Simon.

Great video, as always. What windscreen wipers do you use in such temperatures, get fed up with mine freezing up in UK winters at -5C

Thank you Chris! 😊 I use a regular off brand car store type wipers, but I have a heated wind screen which is a lifesaver. In some conditions it is a must have for longer drives here. 👌
