None of what you wrote makes any sense. So to be clear : Hamlet was written in 1623. Nosferatu was made in 1922, and remade in 1979. The original movie is now in the public domain. There are no rights to be licenced. And Nosferatu IS an adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, also in the public domain. Eggers' niche, if you pay attention, is folklore. The Witch is an original idea. The Lighthouse was initialy inspired by an unfinished story by Edgar Allen Poe, but beyond the story of a dude writting a diary about his stay in a lighthouse, the rest is an original work. By the way, it's not the Norseman... the title is actually the Northman.

Except it isn't. Yes, Nosferatu was ripped from Dracula. Yet Murnau and Albin Grau injected a lot of creative liberties and themes that are not present in Dracula.

@@justasoulsfan9805You just contradicted yourself there. Anyway, upon reflection, its likely due to the fact that Universal owns Dracula. So calling it Nosferatu is a convenient workaround.

@@TypicalTonk How is that a contradiction? Ripped something off doesn't make it inherently the exact same. Stephen King's Salem's Lot is a direct hommage to Dracula according to King himself. It rips off several plot elements and tropes. Is Salem's Lot the same story as Dracula now because it rips off Dracula as a character (Barlow in the book), the entire premise, every single trope etc.? No. Salem's Lot has different themes and a different focus despite having the same premise as Dracula. The same applies to Nosferatu. Just because it derived from Dracula doesn't make it a 1:1 carbon copy without artistic integrity on it's own. You can watch the OG Nosferatu and the 1979 Remake by Werner Herzog for free on RU-vid. Try to compare both with the Dracula novel or the classic Dracula adaptations. You will see how different Nosferatu is compared to the original Dracula story.
