How do you make fire? Well, you need fuel of course! As you have seen in previous videos, Jimmy and rebuilt the Hilborn mechanical fuel injection and ordered some more parts to complete it. As we continue to get the parts in to complete the injection setup, we have decided to shift our focus onto the fuel delivery system. Plumbing a dragster fuel system really isn't that much different than a car, but there are some differences, like having two return lines instead of one. The main feed line on this huge, it is a -12AN line and the rest of the system is -6AN. Needless to say, Jimmy's real fine 409 small block will drink a lot of methanol! Once the fuel system has is complete, I will go over in detail how it all works, it is quite simple but also quite interesting!
We also made good use of our time but tackling some of the little things. We started to work on the wiring, bled the brakes, installed some of the body panels, and started plumbing the fire safety system. There are so many little things that need to be completed on this to make it ready to fire up and test everything before we can go drag racing. That being said, we have a plan, a "to do" list, and the will to get it done, teamwork always wins. I can tell you this, I am getting really excited and at the same time, a bit tired! A lot of long days, nights, and weekends! The J&J Speed and Machine "Jumping Jack Flash" nostalgia front engine dragster is almost ready to tear up the dragstrip, but for now I need to keep my daydreaming at a minimum and keep my focus on the "little things". That being said, off camera I am sure you can find me sitting in the driver's seat making engine and racing sounds, ha! The vintage drag racing scene is where it is at, old school is definitely cool! A lot of awesome content is on the way, be there or be square!
