Not Buying The New SG Shot Timer
Those of us who run the original SG Shot timer are aware of it’s one weakness: The beep speaker isn’t as loud as it could be. Probably fine for individual use, but if you are someone who runs large classes, this will be a problem.
So…will be be buying the new, louder SG timer? Initially I thought yes, but after looking at how full featured the original is, I have decided on no. We will just keep this one.

I have the SG timer and i can say if i am at an indoor range and my peltors are actively blocking. I cannot hear it anywhere away from my collar. If someone shoots at the same time as the beep, I cannot hear it. I switched to the SG from a CE pocket pro 2 as I didn’t like how hard it was to set things on the CE. I did upgrade to the SG2 and i like that it is louder and now with the tab on the magnetic bracket it doesn’t get knocked off like the original SG timer if i bump into something. Really happy with the SG 1 as it is so easy to use. The SG2 fixes the Issues I had, not loud enough indoors with other people shooting and it got knocked off my belt when on the magnetic mount.

Just to clear up something that changed since this video released. They released a new cheaper model that offloads more tasks to the phone app- then upgraded this model as well and sell both. The new version of the same form factor is the SG Timer 2, the smaller version is the SG TImer GO.

All the timer are overpriced and the menu design is pretty old. But with $150, instead of buying Pact timer, GO is much better option.

The new one is app driven. If you are techno savvy, it would be a great feature. If not, you won't like it as much. For me any app interface is better than 1980's button pushing, YMMV

I’m just buying the SG go because trying to save some money. I don’t have the original, and although it’s feature packed and I’d rather have that one, I’ll save the extra $150 and just go with the small one. I won’t mind setting it all up through the app. Primarily I want either one for the video overlay feature.

Can't you just see all the stuff you were talking about in the App that goes with the new timer? I think I'd rather have something that runs through my phone to make it easier to pull the data to analyze it. If the original one also lets me quickly download the data from it to analyze it, then that would also be fine. Mainly I just want one that's very minimal and have all the interactions with it be on a separate unit from itself.

Yes. In theory. But here is what is my reality. I never use the app anymore. That’s just ended up being more flash than substance. When running drills for myself or with other shooters, fiddling with the app is just a pain point. If the app disappeared from the app store, I wouldn’t even know it. YMMV obviously. Marky
