Sometimes we struggle to come up with unique niches and ideas to sell in the print-on-demand world. In this video, I share 3 methods that you can use with vintage and public domain designs to help create t-shirt and fine art print designs. These are great to list on sites like Etsy, Redbubble, Teepublic and Merch by Amazon.

Thank you for your tips, as always! 0:44 Technically, as of January 1, 2024, Mickey and Minnie Mouse are now in the public domain (but *only* the original black-and-white versions). So they can be used on POD now, and Disney can't do anything about it.

Yes, and I love that. Winnie the Pooh came into public domain within the last couple of years, just the original WTP, and, I believe, Tigger is now in the public domain, but it is only Tigger from one style, I guess. I am so happy for this, because my son was a huge Winnie the Pooh fan, so I want to make some designs for him. I love it that Disney can’t say a word about it. It seems they have no original creativity, so they used everyone else’s characters. SMH. I can’t stand Disney. 😂

@@MissMolly3377 Some sites would still reject the original. Some will just reject all public domain.

Do you have any tips for mock-ups? You always give the best tips. What I really want to know is what what makes a good mock-up? Also, I want branded mockups, meaning a Gildan or B&C, like they sell on Printify? Are there any tips, also that will show what makes it a good mock up, as in what is surrounding the T-shirt or mug, and when and how to use mock-ups for different designs. For instance, if you’re selling a design for accounting, you may want an office type graphic vs making a street wear design. I hope you are picking up what I am putting down. 😂 I see so many mockups, on Etsy, but it seems like people only use a certain few of those mockups, because when you go on Etsy, all you see is the same girl, over and over, so what makes that mock-up so special, as opposed to all the other mockups, that I think look way better. Also, I am sure there are better mock-ups for one platform versus another platform. Meaning, what mock-ups you use on Etsy, may not be what you want to use for another platform. Etsy has a specific vibe, RB has a different vibe, S6 has a different vibe, etc. Anyway, I was just wondering if you may have some good knowledge and quick tips for mockups. Thanks a crafty Zen.

Place it. But it's not free.

@@saulgoodman2018 I knew about Place it, but I hear a lot of people complaining about them. I am not sure if they do specific brands, like the Gildan products or Bella & Canvas products or if they just use generic mock-ups. I don’t mind buying some really good mock-ups from Etsy or places like that, I am just not sure what I should focus on, for a a great mock-up. Thanks for the reply. ☺️
