I am 76 but have never heard this song before. I don’t know why. I’m a Dylan admirer. This song was performed so beautifully by both of you. The words are so profound. So sad but yet hopeful. Thank you.
@VioletTruxal I too, just recently, came across a Dylan number I hadn't heard before. "Brownsville Girl" . I'm 63, and play guitar, love Bob's music but I keep finding these gems as well. Enjoy listening, hope you have a Beautiful Day.
People that can't get past Bob's voice wind up missing an awful lot of amazing songwriting. There's humor, dizzying trippy wordplay, beautiful imagery, the social commentary of his early troubadour period. And soulful gems like this. Just gorgeous.
I was waiting outside a venue in Madison, WI (Cafe Montmartre) around 2003 waiting for Shelby's set. Her bus was parked curbside outside the venue door, and I thought maybe I could catch a glimpse of her when she came off the bus. About 5 minutes pass, and I see Shelby start to exit the bus. There are only a couple other people outside, and I'm thinking that I am close enough to tell her how much I'm enjoying her show as she passes me. Instead of focusing on the door to the venue, Shelby looks immediately in my direction (I was standing by myself), and that's when those blue eyes looked right through into my soul. Now, if you have never met Shelby in person, her gaze is intense. Needless to say, I didn't get a word out as she walked on by. Shelby loves and appreciates her fans, but she is all business when it comes to performing. I'll never forget that night when I wanted to see a pretty woman sing, but instead got an eyeful of greatness and masterful storytelling through music.
LOVE LOVE LOVE...I've long been a Shelby Lynne fan since way back....nice to be Allison Moorer's next hugest fan!! LOVE these two ladies and their beautiful harmonic, angelic vocals and musical talents piano and guitar my two faves in life....lol..Amazing...just love this to "naked and numb.."
This album is soooo great! Both Shelby and Sissy fans are gonna love it. It's very cool that they finally made an album together. I hope it's the first of many.
This album is just wonderful: both so talented in their own right, but recording together for the first time; great selection and interpretation of other people's songs such as this one
Oh my. Where does one start? A classic case of less is more. The stripped-down arrangement featuring an experientially pensive piano. Alternating brilliant lead vocals. And those sublime harmonies. It is always dangerous to cover a genius, but these ladies did Bob proud. Simply magnificent.
Check out Jimmy LaFaves cover. He' a magnificent interpretor of Dylan's work. Sorrowfully he passed a few years ago. One of the finest voices ever. But this is spectacular.
@@markdirenna159 yes Jimmy Lafave's version is wonderful! I love everything Jimmy Lafave does. unfortunately I discovered him after he had passed away.
My favorite Dylan song ever....this version is just magic!....these ladies bring alot to numerous songs...gives new meaning to lyrics...❤❤...to Dylan and the sisters !
Shelby & aAllison, was fortunate to play BB KINS twice w/ THE COMPLETE UNKNOWNS doing tribute to B D, this was one of my favorites as you were Shelby when you came to THE STEPHEN TALKHOUSE, got a band w/ my wife & daughter MAMALEE ROSE & FRIENDS (you have the CD) I'll miss seeing you 2 in Westhampton, cause I'm playin @ TOWN LINE BBQ in Southampton, HAVE A GREAT SHOW 💕 Lov & Peace Jim Lawler
My favorite Bob Dylan song finally alive again - The sound in that studio is warm lively perfection perfectly capturing the magic of your rendition. Great job 10/10
I sing this song (their version) and I have listened to every recorded version I can find and NO ONE comes close to the pathos and raw emotion that Shelby and Allison do. It is gripping. Probably because of what they've both lived through, idk. At any rate their interpretation of Dylan is my favorite by far and put this song in my top 10 list of memorable impactful songs.
Stunning performance from Shelby and her sister Allison.Fantastic song from Bob Dylan. These amazing songs keep popping up from Dylan I've never heard before, he is on a different planet as a songwriter than anyone else.
Rolling Stone put together a list of the top 100 Dylan songs. There aren't many songwriters that have 100 "top" songs. And yet, having looked st the list, there were a lot of great Dylan songs that didn't make the list.
Since my terminal cancer diagnosis Dylan's very dark Not Dark Yet has taken on personal meaning for me, but knowing the Moorer sisters' childhood tragedy they show me that there is light in the darkness. What a blessing for them to be able to bring light to people, I wish I could express that to them and thank them.
Such a powerful and emotion rendering of a classic. I can watch this a thousand times and be moved each time. If you haven't purchased the album yet you really need to do so right away. Every song on the album is a masterpiece. The songs that the two of them together collaborate on transcend even the high bar in their solo endeavors.
Being a fan of blood harmony and pretty girls and a fan of Bob and the song, it's little wonder I play this so often. These sisters bring heaven to earth. Then they go deeper for to tell hell's tale. The truth of it feeds me.
So glad Shelby and Allison have continued singing together. Being a fan of both sister's solo careers for a long time, I believe their singing together is so heartfelt and beautiful that it is very special indeed.
In 1994 Shelby and I touched cheeks for a photo that I cherish .Sister harmonies rule .Twenty nine dislikes , must be Lorrie Morgan fans , to each their own .Do they still do fan fair ?
CONGRATS FOR I DON'T KNOW WORDS THAT CAN EXPRESS THE WEIGHT THIS MASTER PIECE CARRIES ITS LIKE GOING THRU SEASONS OF HELL THE SON G GIVES YOU THE STRENGTH IF YOU STILL HAVE BREATH AND STRENGTH AND EVEN WHEN SHALL WITHER AND HOPE SEEMS FADEING FAITH IS THAT HAND THAT PULLS YOU UP FROM THAT PIT YOU COULDN'T DO YOURSELF
I love this Dylan song and, by accident & providence, stumbled into this sublime version. Never knew their work before but I'm a new fan and subscriber! Great job.
Strikes the absolutely right tone. Not only musically but with a depth of literary understanding. It's all about feel and in the this one the feel is dead solid perfect.
Ser fuerte tienes muchas cosas bellas en tu vida no necesitas caer por nada ni nadie. Dios escucha a todos si lo hases de corazón. Pare el todos somos importantes no importa que no seamos buenos hijos. Ora no estás solo
love the restrained use of drums and reverb ...quite dry..and some nice vocal phrasing...much better version than lucinda williams for me . Wonderful ....greetings from australia !
Producer Teddy Thompson playing guitar in the background. All three are fans of the Everly Brothers, so there should be some rich harmonies coming out of this.
They’re sisters. Not sure if you knew that or not. Most of Shelby’s music, which she writes, is about their childhood and parents. Some of it is heart wrenching. Revelation Road is achingly beautiful. But expect to shed a lot of tears, I did.
@Glenn Morris Hi Glenn, I too was at that concert in Manchester, having also seen Shelby a few days earlier in Wolverhampton. I had never, but never, seen anybody like her before and have been a fan ever since. As you say, you can HEAR the pain in her voice. They say that time heals everything, but the pain still has a hold on Shelby, so let's hope it eventually let's her go.
I know Allison, I used to drink with her in Nashville at sherlock holmes and she sang me happy birthday at our table at the gold rush . Here at my all time messiahs place. Jimi , who lived on Belmont and Jefferson St
