I saw Clapton in Barcelona in 98. His guest was Bonnie Raitt. What has stood out over the years is that Clapton loves his peers and honors their contribution. As amazing as Clapton was, Bonnie Raitt's slide was unbelievable and Clapton appreciated a fellow musician's work. Clapton reminds me of that Springsteen quote "No one wins, unless we all win". He loves his peers even if they aren't on his level with a guitar he sincerely appreciates their music. This song is amazing and one of Dylan's best.

I've always believed if jerry lived a few more years, he'd have covered this...and it would've been as amazing as any "baby blue" or " visions of johanna" or "simple twist" but I agree, Bob's studio version is the best there is.

It's funny: always loved Eric's voice, but Bob's gruff croak is much better for this song. MUCH better. No shade to Eric, tho, of course. But Dylan is his own planet.

I no longer have any desire to listen to and have lost all respect for Mr. Clapton. His anti vaccine stance and other nonsense he is supporting show the difference between his state of mind and the music he pretends to love. He should just get real and start touring with Ted Nugent.
