Relax, single bar technique is not such a big deal. Remember though, it's still important to understand that it's not a free-for-all. Similar to wiping front to back, always lather top to bottom. Most important: ALWAYS rinse off the bar of soap thoroughly before putting it back on the vanity in the guest bathroom.

All my life I don’t think I have ever dated someone that is my own ethnicity. I have always been attracted to other ethnicities. I don’t honestly know why or really ever thought about it. I suppose I just see others different and find them very attractive. When I was younger, mixed seemed to be a negative. I am Mexican, Irish, American Indian and Red Neck Country! But now, im all too aware of this fact😅😅😅

Loved the pre sketch! Very interesting topic to talk about once again. And funny diversity sketch, had to laugh when Sharjil just appeared in the shot randomly xD I think diversity is great, but it shouldn't be forced, or the most important thing, like it is in most movies at the moment. Humans should be seen for their personality. I always think of people I hang out with online, I don't know their race or ethnic group or whatever, but we always still have a good time :)

I get confused about the intersection of fetish and... limitations. Let's say someone only wants to date brunettes. It's *kind* of a fetish, but they simply aren't engaged by blondes or redheads. It doesn't mean they're going to go with someone *just* because they're brunette (which would be fetish), it only means they're *not* going to go with someone who *isn't* brunette. You can copy/paste this all kinds of things - including gender, race, sexual characteristics, all kinds of things. I did include gender at the top because it's provocative. Would you *never* date someone because they're the "wrong" gender for you? Are you fetishizing the "right" gender? What's the line between fetish and limitation?

What about missionaries? And, what do you think about people from other cultures coming to America to be missionaries to Americans? Yes, there are Buddhist temples in America that are run by Asians. I'm a straight white CIS male who lived in a Buddhist temple in America for six and a half years. What about me?
@Orynae
@Orynae Год назад
So many complicated cases. At what point can you say you're integrated into the culture of a country you've moved to? I'm originally American, but grew up in a Western European country from a young age. Nobody bats an eye at me saying I'm basically from that culture, bc these are 2 Western, predominantly White countries, and I'm white-passing. Would it be different if I had the same situation in an African or Asian country? Also, can my parents claim this country's culture? They lived here for over 10 years and raised their children here, but they have a noticeable accent when they speak the language, they _did_ eventually move back to the US... And how does any of that compare with the timeline of calling US immigrants American?
@TesserId
@TesserId Год назад
@@Orynae Those are really good points. Social scientists use the term _cultural relativism_ when discussing how to best understand other cultures and not judge them by any standard other than their own. As a fan of developmental psychology, it fascinates me how we acquire out culture when we are young, including our accents and sense of how language works. And, we end up perceiving the world from that perspective, regardless of how much we travel. But, I can say that after those years of living in a Korean Buddhist temple, I did learn how to say _kim chi_ correctly (as Asian languages often have only one consonant between 'k' and 'g', both are used in translation, as in 'Kuanyin' and 'Guanyin'.)
@WhatchuWon
@WhatchuWon Год назад
I think it's so easy for people outside of the category to make wide judgements "that's ok, but that's too far" kind of thing, but the reality is that every situation is different, and it's more complex than just being right or wrong. I'm a kindergarten teacher in Korea, and I've been living here longer than my students have been alive. I always correct my students when they say I live in America. I might be from the USA, but I have no house there. I live in Korea. Anyway, I just wanted to say I get where you're coming from.
