I'm not going to choose between eating and heating (I hope) and am well aware others are in far worse situations. That said, why should I just get on with it and pay 4 times what I paid last year to heat my home just to preserve the profits of rich oil companies? It's a joke.

Easing the burden of taxation is NOT the way you solve a recession... It exacerbates the issue. The government giving people money to grow the economy doesn't and cannot work whilst the country aims to tackle the issue of a recession. Increasing Tax on the upper echelon of society, and the companies who reap billions in profit is the only sure fire way to ensure peoples hip pockets aren't affected. Increasing taxation of these groups is the only way to ensure the government can maintain its spending without moving into an economic depression. Pull your thumb out, stop voting Tory, stop voting Conservative and hold them accountable to the damages they've already caused during their tenure.
@MrManny075
@MrManny075 Год назад
Inflation happens because too much money was created during the lockdown, and now the government need to get it out of the system inflation is doing that for the government, raising interest also does that, raising taxes also does that, and lowering the taxes will work against the BOE interest rate rise, People having money doesn't create growth because the pound is weak against the dollar that means import is expensive, also that means the UK government will say goodbye to the dollar reserves, the only way out is a long recession and Austerity anything that come in will not go out the government owe the majority of the debt to itself
@chrissilver7719
@chrissilver7719 Год назад
Public ownership of public utilities and then the government can simply control the energy prices and that would also stem inflation. You simply buy back shares at their original value plus 5% you simply reinvest the profit. If brexit was about taking back control why do you have foreign ownership of our essential services electricity, water and trains.

Not to mention the previous 6 months at least the cost of living crisis has been ramping up. But I suppose those first 6 months were just the poor so don't count. Now it's starting to effect the middle classes, Tory voters, so they need to get it sorted by September when the middle class will actually start to feel it. That is EXACTLY what's going on in their heads, this doesn't start in September, my pensioner mother's energy bills have been at least half her benefits for 6 months now, summer for pensioners is normally a difficult time but my Mum was happy as larry summer came around because she doesn't have to heat the house but now without heating it's up to half her benefit, so this talk of September tells you all you need to know, the Tories don't care about the price people are paying, they care about THEIR VOTERS struggling and the poor never vote Tory which is why they still feel they have time before they need to act, it's why there was no help from Jan when this started
