comment that is bound to age well. i mean I understand that most people are very heavily locked into their historical context. and so imagination beyond that is impossible, but please, just for a moment, imagine life even 50 years from now. are you telling me you don't think AI is "going to work" in another 50 years? in the past 2 years we've went from chatbots to this. the models are continuing to improve at predictable intervals. billions of dollars and some of the most intelligent people in the world are all working on this problem. I would be careful to bet against that. even if you have a predictable aversion to 'tech bros' or whatever heuristic you use to make sense of that side of the world.

Yeah AI gets a bad rep (deservingly so), but there are some beneficial use cases for it.

​@@nilsdula7693This isn't even one of the good use cases. Scheduling can be solved with a regular algorithm. Undergrad CS students are usually taught some basic form of this problem. There's definitely software out there that already solves the problem. People just throw the words AI into everything, especially on things that are just regular algorithms.

i'm sorry to tell this to you buddy, but there will be some point in the near future where people stop giving a shit about this. i know it's fun to imagine the ordinary person has so much control over the vectors of society, but we don't. things are pushing in a certain direction. and the masses are usually the very last node to metabolize that change. in other words, people won't give a shit about this anymore because the technology will have changed them so drastically that it would be impossible to ask them to get rid of it. if you'd believe it, the iphone had many detractors upon first release. calling it an expensive gadget. airpods were also widely made fun of online upon first release. now, those people all have iphones or smartphone equivalents. the future laughs at the luddites of the past. I know, in your online circle, there is a mimetic impulse to be negationary towards anything coming out of silicon valley. but realize your circle is porous, and not representative of everyone's circle. it will either evolve to accommodate new realities, or it will decay and die.
