Tessie, I had to stop the video and say this.... over the years, you have normalized getting food from food pantries and being prepared. Tessie I needed to hear those videos and also I learned alot from those videos. During the panic of food shortages, you were mild and cautious regarding food shortages. You NEVER scared me regarding all of this. I love how you proceeded to can food during that season of the world. Keep on keeping on being you!!!!

Our storage room looks like a grocery store with lots and lots of jars and cans of food and also lots of cleaning supplies and toiletries. Before the pandemic, that was never the case. We also had a well stocked freezer but when the pandemic hit I stocked up on every single thing that I could think of that we would ever use. I learned my lesson that if my husband is ever out of work for whatever reason again I don't want to have to worry about groceries, at leas not right way. We are definitely starting to use up the food now and I am actually getting low on toilet paper and paper towels. All this stuff is taking up so much room but I would rather have the food than the space. It has been nice not having to spend a fortune on meat now since I stocked up and canned so much over the last few years. We are able to pay off credit cards now instead of using credit cards just to buy food like some many people have to do right now. I can think of ways that the pandemic was a blessing. I never would have prepared like I am now which gives me a sense of peace. I never would have put so much effort into paying off debt either. Now, I feel like I just have to do that because you never know what could happen tomorrow. I really appreciate you and all of your videos! Thank you!!

I am glad you brought up grieving. That is easily one video in itself. When you have a hard loss, and for me, it was my mom when I was in my early 30's, I hated God for seven years. I did mean things to people, not because it was my nature, but because my heart hurt so badly that my reactions were wrong. A lot of people had to put up with me. But now I am sympathetic toward those without parents or who are hurting. And my faith in God has never been stronger. If people can't understand that, either they didn't love their own parents, or have never experienced a huge loss, or have demons of their own. Be blessed!
@kesmarn
@kesmarn Год назад
So many good points! I think a lot of people feel that if you lose your parents after you become an adult, it's not all that traumatic. But I think that there's a certain level of trauma (especially after you lose that second -- final -- parent) no matter when you experience it. It feels something like an "orphan" moment. You find yourself becoming "The older generation," with all that implies. It's a lot to deal with.

Hi Sweet Tessie!! Having lived in California during major quakes, I learned to prepare. In many places after a quake, power went out, and water had to be boiled. Stores were closed and people had to "make do" with what they had. I learned to "prepare" back then. For the past 2 1/2 years, I have carefully listened to reports from Farmers, Ranchers, and Economists, plus kept an eye on inflation. People are now using CREDIT CARDS to buy food and pay for utilities...foreclosures have risen, and the AUTO REPO business is at all-time high!!! As Russia has been the NUMBER 1 supplier of fertilizer for the world, the conflict HAS AFFECTED OUR FARMERS. They have only been able to get/afford HALF of what they normally would get...so that means that the crop yield will be less later this year. Added to that are the drought conditions. This affects corn, grain, and other crops. We have also seen beef, pork, and chicken prices rise..along with just about everything else in the stores. My husband and I are on Social Security, and we go to food banks to help us with food. What we don't use we share with our neighbors. Each month we try to add to our pantry...the "forward" pantry has food to be used this year, and the "Just In Case" pantry has food that will be used in 2024, 2025, etc. Nothing will go to waste. The National DEBT is out of sight, and much of our food is being sent elsewhere. The Chinese have bought a lot of our farmland, and the influx of WELL OVER 12 million illegals has put a severe strain on our economy as well. The unemployment figures DO NOT disclose the REAL unemployment figures as they DO NOT REPORT on the millions of people who have stopped receiving unemployment!!! As a Christian I pray to God each day, but I realize that although HE BLESSES ME, I MUST DO MY PART TO HELP MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. NO ONE KNOWS WHEN THE RAPTURE WILL OCCUR..NO ONE. We have downsized quite a bit and have donated a lot to church thrift stores...I have been through everything we own and have donated things we no longer use. Basically, I PRAY, read, learn, and listen...every day. I believe that there IS A DIFFERENCE between "BEING PREPARED" and "HORDING"...because a hoarder REALLY DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE. Stay safe and well, Darling Tessie!! Keep what food you have and ROTATE..and add to it when you can. You are such a BLESSING to so many people!!! Love You Lots!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Wow, I've been reading the comments, and it must be amazing to have so many people agreeing with you and telling you that you're right. You're influencing a lot of people. I just hope that no one takes this as a reason not to be prepared. I agree that there's a limit to how much food and supplies we should store. It's obvious to every believer that the world is changing in ways it never has before, and that, as the bible says, we need to be wise as serpents and gentle as doves. Let's all hope that God gives us the wisdom to know how much is enough.

I figured out how much flour, sugar, pasta , rice etc we’d need for approx 2 years and that’s where I stopped . I have a healthy pantry and spend $30-40 dollars at the store now on food items every few weeks..things I catch on sale that we like. So yes stock your pantry’s and then stop and reassess your needs.

I lost my Husband of almost 47 years, on the 28th of April this year. It's hard, that's true. But, my Granddaughter said to something change my outlook on things. I didn't want to get rid of a lot of his clothing and such. It was too soon. She said to me during lunch one day. "Grand, why are you saving Pa-pa stuff?" I explained it helps me remember him. Then she said "You're remembering him in stuff. I'm remembering him in my heart". Today, all his things are gone. Except, this jacket This is just a tan twill jacket. But, he wore it all the time. If he wasn't in that jacket, it was too hot. His closet, will be made into a tiny library. for all my mysteries books. I have hundreds of them. However, after watching this. I'm downsizing them along with my shoes and purses. Thank you Tessie for your candor. Hi Tessie, You know I have always been a thrifter since about 18. I am 55. I have never been a hoarder but when I first met my husband I had a lot of clothes. After we got married I had more clothes. No joke I had 72 pair of shoes at one time. They were things I thrifted, Had handed down to me from friends, gifts etc. So that is a lot but I still shopped. I would always find great bargins at thrift stores and clothes back then a lot were 50 cents not 5.99 etc like now. So I shopped all the time. Then once the military moved my husband and I to a new base well I was working, then found out I was pregnant. Then later everyone where I worked got laid off a few months before i was to take maternity leave. So after much thought I sold my car and then chose to stay home. My husband got a 2nd job that worked around his military schedule so that I could stay home with our daughter. Well I felt the withdrawls and anger and frustration when Other ladies could thrift or go to garage sales or thrift stores and I could not. yet I did not need anything clothes wise nor did our daughter. yet when you get obessessive over things that can happen. now as time has gone on in my life Our kids are grown and on their own. Yes I still thrift but I find that I donate stuff and so when I bring stuff in many times stuff is going out. yet I have been through that time when i could not spend. So now I realize when i can it is a blessing but I also have gone through times in my life of really bad depression and you know during those times you realize it does not matter how much stuff you have that will not give you peace. I knew my peace only came from God and God alone. So I have come through alot and it sounds like from this video you have learned things too. No judgement on my part. Thanks for being willing to share this. I know it is not easy.

Truly one of the best videos you've ever made, Tessie! What an amazing amount of wisdom you've presented in less than 12 minutes! I have to say that if all this remarkable growth is happening in your life without your consulting a therapist, you have accomplished something that's even more impressive than I realized! That is *literally* pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps -- along with the grace of God -- which is more than the vast majority of us could ever hope to accomplish! i am in awe! Between your weight loss and your recognition of what role grief and the pull of obsessive impulses have played in your life, you've made huge leaps forward in a very short period of time. I'm with you completely in the idea that we are probably all obsessive about something(s). Whether we recognize it or not. I know I am! And as you observed -- sometimes there's a fine line between a sensible degree of preparing for the future and accumulating too much. I still have quirky habits that I need to work on getting rid of! For instance -- who saves those little packets of ketchup, soy sauce, taco sauce, etc. from the carry out meals? Why, I do!! Of course. Even though I have 50+ of them... you never know when you're going to run out! Yikes. (Can I ask for prayer, friends? LOL! 😀 One of these days my family is going to be saying scoldish things behnd my back as they do the final clear out of my kitchen. Things like: "Why didn't she throw all this stuff out years ago!!? My ears will be burning. And I truly hope that's all of me that will be! 😀 ) Thanks once again, dear sister and friend, for your candor and encouragement, along with your recognition that we're all just a little bit eccentric (make that "human" as well) and that we can encourage each other as we journey toward wholeness and authenticity and the ability to relax in the love and acceptance of Our Father. 💞💞💞

And no --- you surely didn't offend me at all last night, dear sister. In fact, I am going to impose on you and ask for prayers for tonight, if I may. I have a 10 a.m. telemedicine appointment with my oncologist tomorrow and this "blasted" insomnia is getting to be a real nuisance! So I hope you will pray that I can get enough sleep so that I don't sound totally addled on the phone! 😀 P.S. I'm glad my silly joke gave you a smile.

You are absolutely spot on! I never bought into the whole doomsday thing, personally, but I have definitely over bought and stocked way more than I needed to for just two people. I did it because 1) we have been through tough times with very little to eat and no money and 2) I would see empty shelves in the stores and start getting anxious. We still have empty shelves these days, but I'm not worried about it. You have always been so calm and forthright and I really appreciate that! I have learned so many things from you over the years! We're working on organizing and decluttering as well and I have started using up our supplies rather than going out and buying more of something we already have tons of. Something that I have found helpful, along with an inventory of our pantry and freezer, is to stop watching videos of people (usually with way more than 2 people in their families) stockpiling. Now, your videos I will never stop watching!

I too have been scaling back on my food storage/ prep. At the time of the plandemic I was also going through a lot of other changes in my life and things felt very unstable and I too was trying to secure food for not only myself and husband but for my extended family and neighbors. I learned to can food, save seeds and grow gardens during that time and thank you for teaching so much through your videos. Times have changed yet again and my spirit feels more prepared and less fearful now so we’ve been using things up instead of adding massive amounts. It all came in handy as my husband was injured last December and has been off work this whole time. I was always taught waste not, want not and it feels good to use what I have, save on my grocery bills during this time and still provide home cooked meals for my family and friends❤

I unsubbed from quite a few channels that couldn't stop their addiction to lying and banging on about end times in exchange for views. I stopped the piles of food too. Just regular canning and preserving like my forebears did.

I have no room! I wish I had more room, because I love to can food. I have to limit what I do can. I'm careful to pick and choose the foods we love when I can, so I know it will be eaten within a year. Yes, fear sells, but you Tessie, were NEVER talking fear in your videos. I hope you will continue to encourage people to put away "some" food! We do live in uncertain times.

When my mama passed away we had to pour out 100's of jars of food. That she wouldn't let us touch while she was living. It had all gone bad. All those years of hard work. My daddy put hard work and sweat in the fields to grow. It breaks my heart. My grandma lived to be 106.aways telling us the Lord was coming back every year, mama 91 the same don't miss understand me I know my Lord's coming back. But we don't know the day or the hour. We can just live each day for him. Do the best we can, strive to be like him. Love like him. Learn to forgive like him. But most of all Love him. God bless you Tessie. You keep me humble. ❤

Good morning, Tessie. I needed this video. You’ve taught me so much about canning/preserving, storing and stocking up, and I am grateful. While having a well-stocked pantry is good and important, I agree with you that we need to make sure fear doesn’t take over. I started from a place of fear in 2020, and moving out of that has been a process. Thank you for your balanced perspective and enduring example. Your videos bring so much peace to my days.

Hi Tess! I loved this one! You are doing great! I am going through a very similar journey and it makes me chuckle how closely you and I are on this road! You have a wonderful character, Tess. I love your truthfulness, humility, and courage. You also have a great sense of humor, which I thoroughly enjoy . Don’t waste any more of your time worrying or explaining. Just KNOW, DO, And BE. KNOW yourself and your journey. DO the things you need to once you know you need to do it. BE who you are, and allow yourself to be who you change into as you grow. All that is much easier said than done! Lol! But, I pray for us both, for peace, contentment, and love. God bless you Friend! ❤
