I’ve had a very difficult time with David Platt after the stances he took and the way he taught/preached during BLM and covid. To me many things he said were very contrary to the gospel and very much influenced by the narrative of the world and “social Justice” and not “Biblical Justice” and Christ’s gospel narrative. A comment on here is too short to go into details, but I feel very uncomfortable with the direction he took and is taking. I’m thankful for pastors like Voddie Bauchum who has boldly taught the gospel at such an important time.

I understand exactly what you're saying, but there is a serious race problem in the United States.. in the world! (And I'm a 68 yr old white woman) I think maybe David has gotten too focused in one direction (maybe?) but we have to address the elephant in the room. The race issue is much like many of all the other issues (Democrats vs. Republicans and vise versa, Christians vs Jews and vise versa, men against women and vise versa, etc., etc., etc.). All this is a DIVIDE AND CONQUER AGENDA put out by the most powerful of this world, for the purposes of steeling, kill, and destroying Gods people. The AGENDA OF DIVIDE AND CONQUER has been wage upon Gods people ALL OVER THE WORLD, SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME. When people argue about race, gender, politics... I have to laugh then I get sad... because I know that the people who engage in this kind of division argument/discussion have been duped by the agenda of the globalist controllers. Me ALL need to step out of this paradigm, and stop fighting within ourselves. As this is exactly what the globalist controllers want! They aim to weaken countries by these agendas of division, for the purposes of weakening the country, to IMPLODE UPON ITSELF. Thus, a country can be AT WAR WITH ITSELF without even realizing that THAT is EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING ON. The only way out of this, in my opinion, is to unite as one through the KJV Bible, and the Jews coming back to the original tribe of Israel and GET OUT OF WHAT THEY ARE CURRENTLY BEING TAUGHT - KABALAHISM (Spelling?) (Witchcraft).

Sean, I appreciate you rallying in support of your friend, it is a noble quality. My issue with Platt is that he doesn’t seem to accept responsibility for his own actions and it sounds like he is blaming the American gospel for his fall from popularity. He played a major role in the division in the American church and contrary to what he says here, he brought politics into church. @juliegray3949 I would like to push back a little (not in a divisive way but as a Berean, to make sure I am understanding where you are coming from), if you don’t mind. You stated, and took issue with the fact that you believe Platt brought politics into his church. However, our views on faith, religion, and politics build our worldview making it impossible to just leave it at the door. I haven’t followed Platt closely so I am unsure specifically of the circumstances you are referring. Are you suggesting that he just expressed something political as it pertains both to the Gospel and to his worldview or are you suggesting that he told people to vote for one party or the other? that he suggested you can’t be a Christian and vote for one party or the other? that he told his congregation to vote for one politician or another? that he did something as egregious as the examples I just mentioned? If you wouldn’t mind sharing what he did that you take issue with, I would appreciate it. I do believe that it is impossible to divorce yourself from politics just because you walk into a church just as it is impossible to divorce yourself from your faith just because you walk into a government building. However, if he used his platform to promote a political position, candidate, or party, that would be a misuse of his position and platform. That said, if the political position, party or candidate is doing something expressly in opposition to the Word of God, I could see him speaking up like Pastor John MacArthur did during the lockdowns when California went after him to stop his congregation from meeting together since that clearly went against Scripture. I would appreciate your feedback because I do want to make sure that I am understanding and “rightly dividing” this matter.

Platt did a great job in this interview. You couldn't see beneath the sheep's clothing and he smiled without showing the fangs. For all his talk about unity and having a church where people disagree about secondary issues. He divided his church and the people he disagrees with now worship somewhere else. His church is less diverse than it was when he got there. It may look more ethnically the way he wants to, but the way he achieved this was by condemning people who didn't share his views on secondary issues.

One thing that has been particularly difficult for me to watch and observe is the smearing of fellow Christians in this recent season. I have seen so many brothers and sisters who have a deep understanding of Biblical justice facing direct and personal accusations of racism because they did not subscribe to a very politicized version of "justice". A good friend of mine had spent decades building up an educational non-profit for children in need in our city. Because of her understanding of Biblical justice, she started an organization that intentionally went out and found the least of these in the education system and provided direct support and resources in our city. Fast forward to 1 month ago. She was forced to resign from her position on the board of directors simply because she voiced some concerns about the DEI framework being implemented. She has been smeared as a racist. She has been run out the very organization she started because she did not see the version of politicized "justice" lining up with Biblical justice.

Sean, been a fan of yours since 2011 when I met you at Summit Ministries. That said, though I have yet to finish this interview, I wish you would’ve pushed David a bit more on exactly what is POLITICAL and what is BIBLICAL. This is a guy who historically is all too ready to generalize and disown “political” disagreements in the church, while neglecting to address that much of what we call political is actually moral and biblical - the creation of men and women, structure of a family, abortion, our view of Israel. Additionally, David marched and encouraged thousands to march in a reckless BLM protest (lead by people who hate Christian values) while simultaneously closing his church and refusing to offer service because COVID made it too dangerous… this is a man who seriously lacks wisdom in the field of American politics and how they interact with Christian values.

The difference when now with a black person was that day he was treated differently. The white waitress was now sullen, grumpy, rude, and off hand. The issue with the American Church is that they stand for nothing, there is no call to repentance for those within your church walls that are 1) more focused on the issues of the world than the whole of God’s Word 2) are living in sin and being told it’s ok because the church is afraid of losing parishioners and money. I am involved in a multiethnic church but the style of worship is clearly more influenced by one particular ethnic group. You could call that a form of racism. The fact is, we attend churches that appeal to our culture, not the color of our skin, and that is perfectly fine. The way you preach, David, is typical of your ethnic group and that's OK. I’m a biracial woman (age 48) and I know more than a few handfuls of people who’ve believed (maybe or maybe incorrectly) that Christians are hypocrites because they say that we are all children if God yet, historically have worshiped very segregated. This has generally been the norm. I think that if we keep our eyes on Jesus we transcend the physical however, we are here on this earth with a commandment to love one another. Love means telling the truth, it means proclaiming the gospel to all and to moving beyond our pride and knee jerk reaction to bristle against what challenges our view of ourselves. All of that being said, it’s been wonderful to also remind people that the abolitionists were Christians, Dr King was Christian and that even when humans fail (as we all do) Christ does not fail.

I would say on any discussion about race, we also must go into the topic of CRT so that people will not be led astray by the ideologies that are MEANT to divide us. We must have a conversation about not only doing justice, but also not taking offense, entrusting God with how other people treat us, and the importance of forgiveness. CRT creeping into the church will keep us from understanding that we are already united in Christ. Highly recommend Voddie Baucham’s book, Fault Lines, to better understand the danger of ignoring the cultural Marxism by which many believers are being deceived. The most important commandment is NOT to preach the gospel, it is to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself". We are to love others, but their sinful ideology doesn't belong inside the Bride of Christ. We must deny the infiltration of the world and it's influence. We must stop the nonsense and the obsession with social justice, Critical gender and race theory, DEI and the prejudice of it all, and pursue a relationship with Him.

Very good to hear from men who not only recognize the urgency of these things, but *actually have faith too.* Dan Burke gives a superb lecture about the risk of being satisfied with political victories for the Catholic Church. Making the public square safe to practice Catholicism is only one of our pressing tasks, he says - the way to actually bring people around to it is though "extraordinary acts of love." That was probably the biggest part of how the early Church evangelized: not primarily by talking, but through extensive institutional charitable works.

When I first received the Holy Spirit He led me to read Christian biographies and testimonies through 2,000 years of the church. He led me to different preachers, one of the first being David Wilkerson. He was very strong. I would be on my fac3 In repentance. He spoke boldly and humbly, but did not compromise when others attacked him. He lived by and in the Holy Spirit. I still listen to his sermons because they challenge me to not compromise. Reading about the persecuted church, especially in the books of Tom Doyle, caused me to see what the church truly is and recognize that the majority of the American church is not. The testimonies of brothers, sisters are powerful. The book of Acts is still being written, and will be until the Lord’s return. Singing has replaced worship here. But in nations with strong persecution, prayer is never ceasing. Under persecution the church risks their lives to have God’s Word. Here we have it, but read devotionals written by people instead. There they refuse to compromise, here we do not even recognize the extreme compromise. There each member functions in the church, here only professionals. The church in the west resembles more the Pharisees, chief priests, and factions of Jesus’s earthly life. I think the compromised western church will be the worst persecutors of the Spirit filled, Spirit led, Spirit empowered church. Let us stand in the gap. Let us pray for each other and fast to be faithful unto death. Let us pray not to compromise, not to give in, give up, or give out. Let us pray for each other to have holy boldness. Truth offends. People prefer the ‘ cheap grace’ that allows them the license to live any way they choose with no one to tell them they are wrong! The theme of the Bible is obedience to God. There is a law we are under. No longer on tablets of stone, but on hearts of flesh, with new desires to love and obey God. The Holy Spirit living in the new Temple of the bodies of true disciples of Christ. That is what grace is all about; giving us new character, being created in the image of Christ unto obedience unto death.

Romans 3:23 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. David has been great on the description of the gospel but he is misled on preaching he is guilty of white privilege. That’s describing racism which has no place in a Christian. If he is then he should repent and preach the gospel to himself. Living in an area of predominantly one melanin level doesn’t automatically mean your racist that could be said of black communities then. That’s the Marxist idea of privilege and oppressed mentality. It's a line people often cross when talking about Marxism. I often find that someone merely bringing up oppression will automatically be called Marxist. Marxism, CRT, Critical Theory, and Progressivism on one side has become the same as when the other side claims Racism, Wokeness, Transphobia and Homophobia. They've become terms in which people can twist words and make loose connections in order to shut down a conversation that their echo chamber doesn't want to have. It happens on both sides, but people tend to overlook the overgeneralization of the phrase Marxism. For example, a lot of people don't even know that the term "Woke" was a slang term in the black community that just meant calling out racism, but then it was hijacked to basically mean everything that Christianity teaches against, so LGBT, abortion, and the like.

@Christiaan Paans , it means having our lives circle around a social or political idea, and applying that said idea to our Christianity instead of allowing Christ and His word to have our devotion and let the out pouring from Him frame our behaviors towards others. So if all our time is being spent at rallies and marches and we are spending our time in Scripture looking for ways to defend that particular position, then we are more focused on that position than God Himself. It becomes misleading and confusing. And pretty soon we are more concerned about winning a social battle than we are with spreading the gospel.

So....we can't claim to be a follower of Christ and murder unborn babies. Having a conversation about race is so important. Another topic is how women are treated in the culture and the church. I have a friend who was told that because she was a female she couldn't be a band leader. I was told by a veterinarian that being a woman meant I couldn't be a vet in small animal practice. The hard work of Atonement for sins by perfect blood sacrifice of the spotless lamb of Jesus has been available for the taking by everyone since (especially) he came and lived a sinless life. (Examples of people who loved God before Jesus came too, we're just living on the finished side now) Bucket 1 he talks about is so important because, the Bible is clear about who God is, His Triune nature, and the Authority of Jesus as Christ. Marriage, abortion, and the equality of all people above the rest of creation is also clear (Bucket 1) it's going to be pretty hard to be in a church who sticks to these Biblical values openly and disagree on "Gospel" "Bucket 1" issues. Other big issues like How to go about daily and life as a country are important, but need to be free for discussion between believers. Bucket 1 - Salvation, nature of God, God's design. Bucket 2 - How we as people try to honor the implications of Bucket one in our homes and communities.

The simplest form of Gospel is, Jesus is God, LORD, uncreated and creator of the universe. He is the physical representation of the Father. His offer is to repent (change your mind) and believe this truth. This will lead Him to change you,and you will be drawn to seek Him and his word for your life, and the share. Anyone can understand the Gospel, and many do without ever knowing another person who has shared anything about Jesus, the Jewish God, or Western culture. It is so simple, even children and those who have disabled minds can understand. Premise 2 if your question is unnecessary for the Gospel

I see comments here that are critical of David, which I have no context for, but his book is amazing to this point-- Very challenging to me as a "safe Christian," it is inspiring. I have myself been feeling my Christian life has gotten off track and his book is a timely reminder for me. Wishing all the brethren fruitful days.

@@SeanMcDowell I did enjoy it. Pastor David is my actual Senior Pastor of my church. I don't always agree with his views on placing works based litmus tests out there for people to check whether they're really Christians or not. Sometimes it comes across as legalism. I am Black. I noticed that so many white people don't ever even think about their whiteness ever. White Americans don't even internally acknowledge that they belong to an ethnic group. It's hard for me to really understand that perspective. Being Black has little to do with skin color. It is an American ethnic identity. When we talk about being Black it's most of the time a reference to our shared culture and African heritage. It's crazy how taboo it is in White American culture to talk about something so natural for us. Anyway, thanks for having Pastor Platt on. ❤

Here are four concepts to consider and distinguish when speaking of these subjects: Religion, Morality, Governance, Politics. The Church missed a great opportunity when it chose to address the issue of abortion when adressing a country comprised of believers and non believers. It is counter productive to quote the Bible, or wore your pastor, to a nonbeliever. That is only aggravated when one jumps from the Bible to governance (making and implementing laws) to politics. When I simply state, "For ME, abortion is morally wrong wrong because I preceive the fetus to be a human being and therefore should be avoided." No one can question my right to hold a moral opinion for ME. That can be MY guiding principle when addressing if or how laws should or should not be written to govern how we will address this in our country. We have a constitution for deciding how these issues will be governed. Beyond this one issue, there are multiple issues that factor into deciding which political party and which political candidate I will support. But between now and then, I can simply say that for ME abortion is morally wrong because a fetus is a human being and therefore should be avoided."

I'm black and looking for a new Church as the Anglican Church here in the UK has gone 'woke' dare I use that tired, annoying term. We may have found a new Baptist church that is bible-believing which is my priority. It is a predominantly white church and I am prepared to experience racism & other sins should it come our way as it has in the past. Racism & other forms of sins against others can be worst or at least feels worst than that experienced in the secular world due to high expectations of better behaviour from others. I find keeping my expectations of others low helps, that way a person is not too disappointed if things go wrong. my trust is in God not man. People in church are still not ready to have an honest discussion about race.

What brings all denominations together into one Body? The answer is found below. New Covenant Whole Gospel: Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. Watch the RU-vid videos “The New Covenant” by David Wilkerson, or Bob George, and David H.J. Gay.

Hey Sean! Not exactly related to this video's topic, but have you ever taken the religious typology quiz that is available on the Pew Research Center? Of the seven types or religiosity, there was a section called "God-and-country believers" which were groups less active in church groups or other religious organizations but they still held traditional religious beliefs and tilted right on social/political issues. I wasn't sure if that was in any case relevant to what we understand as a group that could susceptible to a false American gospel compared to that of the real life-changing Biblical Gospel. 🤔 But then again, I had just ran into this in my sociology class, so I wouldn't know precisely!

I think that people’s tension toward platt on his stances when it comes to justice is due to ignorance. I really do pray that we become cautious is being so quick to throw out the “the victim mentality is a major idea” primarily because that is an attempt to not truly listen and another temptation is to politicize an issue that goes way beyond politics. James tells us to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry but it seems like we throw that value out when people say things that make us uncomfortable. Then we try to find people to use as examples to say “see! This person is part of the black community and they don’t agree with those people over there.” We have to really learn to listen *for real* and not take extremes and not assume everyone that mentions issues with racism are somehow far left. Just because I or others mention issues that have stemmed from racism that does NOT mean we are saying to be victims. Especially when we want to find true healing. I know this is drawn out as a comment but please listen before planning your response. ….we believe that the power of Jesus’s sacrifice is still powerful today. We believe that the willful disobedience against God by Adam and Eve radically changed the nature of humanity for thousands of years. So why do we really think that somehow the impacts of racism aren’t affecting us today when we just a couple decades out of *overt* racism? ….why do we believe Jesus when He says that hate in your heart is murder and that lust within the heart is adultery but we don’t take seriously the fact that quiet racism isn’t egregious racism? That choosing not to listen, calling people that are living below the poverty line due to unfair practices that were never truly rectified (never any true repentance) victims is somehow not egregious in the sight of the Lord. Or saying that talking about race creates more racism(no it doesn’t lol that’s like saying preaching the gospel will only create atheists even though that’s not true). We have to be willing to educate ourselves the same way we educate ourselves on issues such as abortion, LGBTQ rhetoric, etc. (not educating yourself to be part of a political party but to understand before you talk). And again, listening a black person that aligns more with your views and kindof runs the opposite direction of the very people that look like them might not be the person you’d wanna trust for information. You can learn about history from unbiased sources

I have to tell you: I was raised in a family where a great deal of evil was put under the heading of "political" and was then declared off-limits to correction from Biblical instruction. I'm sick of seeing young people lead astray by politics that is 100% opposed to sound Biblical instruction. Is Jesus Lord or is our political party lord? You cannot serve both Jesus and a political platform. You will love one and hate the other. Yes, it's bad to emphasize politics, but let's speak clearly when the time arises and stop being so weak. God has clearly spoken on many issues that the Democrat party clearly opposes. The other party is not worth much on those issues either. And, yes, gun control is in the Bible. I Samuel 13:19. Every pastor who compromises on this point compromises on other points. You can bet on it. Eschatology is important as well. Matthew 25:40, Romans 9-11, II Thessalonians, and Zechariah 9-14 make it clear that Preterism contradicts the Written Word. And Preterism always comes with other things. One Preterist actually denied the literal Resurrection! He had to deny it if he was going to be logically consistent. Sorry., not sorry. Stop messing around. My Progressive friends are loving this video! Excuse me while I go cry and throw up.

"not going to speak on politics".. "not my authority". Jeopardizing the non-profit status is more important than speaking the truth? Funny how our church leaders will let politicians decide what the can and cannot speak on, once there is money involved! Human life is a prerequisite to receiving Christs salvation, "tho shalt not murder".. seems pretty clear to me.
