Dealing with brown bears while fishing on my first full day at Gwin's Lodge in Cooper Landing on the Kenai River. Meet some of my friends from the Wild and Exposed crew, hear how grizzly bears affect the fishing and hiking around the Kenai Peninsula and watch Heath Hayes catch his first salmon and his first fish on a fly rod, a memorable right of passage for any young outdoorsman. Ron Hayes explains how he photographs and films under water using his Nikon DSLR.
Thanks for watching!

Anything can happen in this world at random. While i admire your determination and ability to plan ahead, thats a long way off. I see this is a old comment but if you haven’t already if your finances allow you should go spend a week or two in the summer.

Beautiful .... I remember the midnight sun when I visited the northern city of Inverness in Scotland back in June of 1984. We had set up our tents in a campground across from the city. Most of the fisherman on the River Ness were using two-handed salmon rods, whereby I was using my 9'3" 7 weight Orvis Advantage Plus. I even remember the streamer fly that I caught my 1st salmon on there ..... it was a fly developed in Maine called a nine-three ..... wish I had kept that fly for safe keeping, but I did keep my permits to fish the river. You are making memories, as well as recording them for your posterity .... all of ours, come to think of it. Digital cams and smart phones came way to late in my lifetime to have shared my adventures .... but I love sharing others. Take care and thanks much.

Great series as always! Thank you, Shawn, for all the efforts you made for us your many subscribers to be able to enjoy your visit to Alaska! Highly appreciated, as always, whatever you do, you are doing so well! Greetings from Sweden!

I had just shrunk the screen and was scrolling down to leave a comment when you said 'bear' so brought it back up to full screen and watched that bit a couple of times. The baby was a great treat. Yeah, even with all the 'improvements' it's still a gorgeous place. I get why you're torn. This is such a wonderful series - so cool to see and learn and hear the sounds. Your hard work has paid off in really high quality work. I see you edging toward 100K subs and hope to see you hit that number soon.

Watching this makes me think about all the beautiful places in this world that I’ve yet to see. I’m so grateful that things like RU-vid exist, as they allow me to experience the far-reaching corners that I’ll likely not get to in person. Thank you for the footage; thank you for being selfless with it; and, thank you for being willing to do all the hard work that is required in order to make these videos happen.
