Streetcar Takeover’s event at Bandimere Speedway in Denver, Colorado brings us awesome new builds year after year. This time we crossed paths with a V8 Mercedes E55 which didn’t sound like the V8 note we’ve come to expect out of E55, making it a car we had to make our way over to. While it’s not so surprising post-event, we were pleasantly surprised by what we saw when he popped the hood! This Mercedes looks and sounds gorgeous on and off the track with the custom paint and the rumbling V8, and we couldn’t get enough of it!

Super clean! AMG motors are not cheap. Probably spent less money on the entire LS turbo setup compared to the price of replacing the stock motor.

@@nikitazagorodniy3716 No doubt. I had a 3.2L AMG motor in my SRT6. Never had an issue, even with upgraded pullies and beating the hell out of it every weekend.

I was really hoping it was the factory motor pushing 800. Too many damn LS swaps these days. I know they're budget friendly and all but I like the more rare builds.

Just for the sound I really like the MB V8s and V12s. They sound like WW2 fighterplanes. Real distinct sound. This LS doesn’t sound too bad either though :)

Definitely doable, and practical for primarily a street car. To my knowledge, the fastest E55 M113K ran a 10.05 using the stock supercharger. But the cost of running stuff at the track and the inevitably of parts breaking makes the LS a better motor for a race car. Both are great engines.

It has an open diff. You can tell by how soft the foot brakes launch is. If he actually tried to spool the turbos, and get a decent 60’, it would hook heavy to the left.

Yep E55s and most Older AMG cars are open diff. UNLESS you order specific packages with the car. For my CLS55 a P30 package comes with a LSD.

Sure shows how much the 2-step revolutionised turbo drag racing! Got off the line okay tho, real nice guy too. First shot under lights that paint blew me away. I loved the og E55 motor, my big bro had one back in the day, now he has a CL63 and sunny-day C7 Z06 and gets HUGE comfort from knowing he could rebuild his LT4 on the kitchen table in the time it takes me to go out for takeaways and it'd cost next to nothing compared to the euro motor. *We grew up old-school Ford, then German lol, but LS/LT won us over* - watching Cleetus and FasterProms blow a thousand horses into them (especially salvage motors with gapped oem rings) without grenading... huge respect, GM. Gotta sell my B7 Audi RS4 cos (apart from being broke!) if that motor has a problem I may as well push the car over a bank. Or LS swap it. Hmmmm....

One way to make them reliable, not sure about the blown 5.4L in the E55 but the 6.2L in the E63 has the head bolts going right through the water jackets, and they rust and break. #Garbage that is designed to break.
