Judson Studios, which has been creating remarkable stained glass windows for 120 years, keeps coming up with something new, their cutting-edge techniques attracting designers for all sorts of projects, religious and non-religious alike. Anna Werner shows us the monumental stained glass window of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, and the artistic touches applied to the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

The interesting thing is the "Church" did not pay for the window. It was not part of the construction budget for the new sancturary. Many members of the church and people from around the world did in voluntary extra giving. Church of the Resurrection, of which I am a member and was on the building committee gives 25% of our offerings to the poor in Kansas City and around the world. Our Christmas offering of $1.4 million this year goes 1/2 to the poor of Kansas City and the other 1/2 to the poor in 3rd world countries. Not a cent goes to the Church My wife and I gladly gave up a trip to contribute to the historic window. The window will last at least 750 years per the artist. That works out to a cost less than $5,000/year. The church is built to stand the test of time.

Confession; I am a a stained glass artist; just a journeyman, but doing my best. The face of Christ in the Leewood Church window is the very best , ever, of the portrayal of Christ's face. Warm, strong, authoritative. Thank yous to Tim Carey and Narcissus Quagliata! You guys did it right. Of course, none of this would have happened without the vision of David Judson. All great art needs a great team.

Tim Carey the artist should have been featured along with Narcissus Quagliatta. They made it happen with their intense devotion to creativity!

In 2018 Tim Carey started his own studio in South Pasadena with the techniques he developed with Narcissus Quagliata. They were the artistic driving force that made the window happen - not so much David Judson who failed to credit the true artists in the interview.

This is an amazing extremely beautiful stunning Stainglass piece of art above and beyond my wildest imagination as a beginner stainglass artist and I am so intrigued I must learn more about these glass powders they used. I am envious of growing up in a family that did Stainglass let alone three generations of knowledge and skill. I think there’s a church in Leawood Kansas is very fortunate to have this Large MAGNIFICENT Artwork❣️ I lived in Kansas for 25 years and I can’t believe this came about after I leave but I have a son living your Wichita and he’s getting married in December and I’m going to make a point to get to Leawood Kansas to see the S Stainglass window! IA women are watching the little bit of the video presented in this video and I’m going to research it further but this is made my day to see New techniques being used in glass!!♥️

Wow they literally put a price tag on their "sense of the holy spirit". This glass really lets the cognitive dissonance shine through brilliantly. Still, it is a great piece of art.

It’s very beautiful in person; however the sound setup was poorly executed, and the speakers block parts of it from almost anywhere you sit.

An acquaintance of mine does stained glass pieces. Uses her own designs. Very modern graphic.

"Stained glass" started just being leaded glass windows because they could not make large sheets of glass and had to piece together small ones, and one might as well make a design, eh? ------ I did many variations of this type of glass work for many years, including slab glass structures.

Ok, so I want to build one of those 3D printed houses, but I want my bathroom window to be stained glass, I want old fashioned windows on a modern building.

Imagine what that Church could have done with that 3.1 million dollars..homeless veteran housing would have been truly “awesome” or feeding the hungry, I suspect the Holy Spirit would have appreciated it being used for humanity as opposed to the dressing of their Church in such over the top fineness. And on that note, Happy Easter!

The money was actually in donations by people all across Kansas City

SportsMixes02 and...? Take the money and do good for the poor or building an appallingly expensive temple of worship. Pretty sure there’s a great story in the Bible addressing this exact topic. Jesus wasn’t please.

Brooke Sanders ALL OF KANSAS CITY. That means that most likely people would be giving $10 max to help make the most incredible stained glass window in the United States. I’m sure that people are also helping the poor in their spare time sooooooo

You realize that kept people employed, right? Much better to pay for something that keeps people employed and allows them to learn or get better at their craft.

You fail to understand that the churches purpose is to glorify GOD. through worship, and by art as it were he is Glorified. Works (humanitarian deeds) are a contentious substitute for faith as payment to get into heaven, it is pretty self righteous of anyone to criticize how others used there means to glorify GOD.

This is what John Hagee's Cornerstone Church needs desperately. God, not man, should be the focus.

Love the art. But I will also echo that such an expense is a blasphemy and sin when your neighbors go hungry. Christ came to turn people away from worshiping false idols made of gold, and took people away from the exile sive and lavish buildings of worship and into the beautodul wood in which God provided. Now fools worship gold idols of Christ in mansions built in his name. They claim to be Christian but tear down Gods own works of art, the trees, thinking it is necessary in order to worship. A walk through virgin woods listening to the choir of animal calls, feeling the breeze and the warmth of the sun brings you far closer to God than sitting in a sterile climate controlled building in which you cannot even see the outdoors through the window.

I don’t agree with the church spending THOUSANDS of dollars. However, I’d rather them spend those thousands of dollars on good quality art that will last for several years and support a amazing artist than a pastor spending that money on a house/plane.

3 & 1/2 million dollars for a window. Does that Clutter family know how to sing or what? And tell us how "Christian" they are and we're not.
