I really like the phone. I got it to match the camera against my iphone 12 Pro Max and this phone punches way over its weight class. People complaining about the frame rate are driving me crazy. Great video!
I love the format of these videos. You show the capabilities of the cameras, you show us YOUR abilities and teach us some cool techniques as well! Dope!

This is what we need in the world of reviews of phone cameras. Thank you for the video.
This "budget" Pixel 6a defeating all (and I mean ALL) the newer and more expensive iPhones, Samsungs and the Pixel Pro phones in terms of outright image quality is, for the lack of words, mind-blowing.
@@rupanorway5904 I'm talking about the camera and the image quality here. In other categories the 6a won't even hold a candle today in terms of battery life and yes, performance at some instances.
@@rupanorway5904 the thing is. Pixel phones are not ment for performing. They are ment for social browsing great photography and amazing software experience. Although you can't call them weak. Like the Google tensor ( first gen) scores 700.000+ in AnTuTu which is well above any midranger
This is the first video I watched from you, and automatic sub. Great content. I like watching random things like this. I like how you take the photos and videos in jpg and raw, showing the difference. Crazy to see a mid range like the 6a, taking amazing photos.
I have ordered this phone !! I saw a lot of videos regarding to Google pixel 6a and made decision to order this one !! As you said “come on guys it’s a budget phone ❤️
Thanks for the video. I got a pixel6a too. I primarily use iPhones but due to my work in IT I like to keep up with android as well. Google gave me $300 for my Pixel 3a so it was a no brainer to get the 6a plus the Google buds for less than $200. I haven’t tried RAW on it yet but I will due to your inspiration.
The camera on here isn't a budget phone camera. It's been used for years on the Pixel's but they also have refined their camera software and this camera has gotten better. I can't wait to see how the Pixel 7a does because it will be getting a camera upgrade from this older one.
Thanks for the amazing review. I have pixel 7 pro and Pixel 6a and there is no difference except macro mode. Pixel 6a punches way above its price. Google did optimize this sensor a lot. Instant sub and like. Keep it up!
Love the images with the second dress, especially in that tall grass and wildflowers scene. The light/shadows were awesome. Funny, I just got rid of my Pixel 2XL this summer because the battery was finally giving up on me. But, I loved that phone and it's camera. I used it as my camera for 2+ years before I finally bought my XT-3. Always loved that it shot raw even though I didn't to much editing back then. I ended up with a Pixel 6 because it was on sale. There is one thing I really miss about the 2XL..... I loved that fingerprint reader on the back of the phone. When I first got the phone I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. Now, I really miss it. There is an interesting thing about shooting with a phone. It lets you focus on composition. I think it's a great way to learn to compose because you don't have to worry about anything else. Sometimes I find myself getting frustrated when my composition sucks using the XT-3 because I'm thinking about exposure settings and less about composition. Recently, I decided to set that thing on aperture priority for some shooting and it definitely helps. Great video Lee! Have a rockin' week!
I did the opposite. i had a sony a7iii which i used as my main reliable camera.nowadays phone cameras are so reliable i sold it and got an s22 ultra.now i just shoot on auto and dont have to do much edit as phones hdr is already good.
@@charliejg idk.but i did try their phone.i used xperia pro i from a friend.its software processing is not as good as the other phones like iphone, samsung, google even with a bigger sensor.so if sony put that in their camera it still may not be that good.
First video that I'm seeing of yours because I just bought a 6a and instant sub. I have a Sony a7iv for my photography and bought this just for basic smartphone functions but I really gotta test out the phone's camera after looking at this video. Awesome work 👍 Love from Calgary 🤗
A proper comparison will be the regular iPhone 13. I have seen some comparisons with the pro max and it smoked the pro max when I came to photos. I think Pixels are still king of photography and dynamic range
This was an awesome video review! First time viewing your content. New subscriber now too. Love all the unique angles and ideas I picked up for shots of my own. Cheers!
Thanks man, i am planning to buy this phone for photography purpose because it is under my budget but was in little bit doubt that should I buy it or not ,but after watching this video all my doubts are cleared Thank you for this camera review video
I find it funny that people are complaining about the sensor in this device. Its the same as the pixel 3-5a. You're gonna get more or less the same looking photos. The biggest difference with this phone will be the video quality since its using Tensor to run google's HDR algorithm through the video capture. And the low light wont be as good as the 50mp Pixel 6. But even then its mostly noticeable in extreme low light situations. I did a detailed comparison video on my channel between the pixel 2, pixel 5 and pixel 6 last year if anyone is interested in seeing the results. It was quite shocking to see that even with the 50mp sensor the pixel 6 looked nearly identical to the pixel 2 in some cases. That IMX 363 sensor is old but if you shoot in raw there is a ton that can still be done with it and the image quality is fantastic.
I have yet to watch your video. But I'm surprised with your last sentence because it holds true for other phones for RAW output. If we were to shoot RAW, then all the computational photography advantage of Pixel will be erased. It that case, why buy a Pixel?
@@davidletterboyz most people choose a phone for the phones feature but from a purely photography standpoint, i still think pixels take the best looking photos.
@@slyfox8900 I mean if I were to shoot RAW on Pixel (which this video did), that will not have any Pixel's recipe of computational processing. In that case, I do not gain any advantage.
@@davidletterboyz that's not the case actually. Googles raw mode is what's called computational raw, which does all the same mult magic that their JPG processing does. It just doesn't apply the noise reduction, tone mapping, sharpening, etc. They leave that up to the user to define in post editing applications like Lightroom for example. Google's raw from pixels typical exhibits wider dynamic range than normal raw capture from say a DSLR, because they are merging different parts of the frame together from all the captured images before being combined to a final singular raw file
I broke my S20FE ultra a few months ago and have been stuck using an S9 Plus cus I didn't have the money to repair or replace. The only thing I'm looking for in a phone is a good camera as I like to take alot of pics. I was gonna buy the S23 since I have the means to purchase but I saw that video of Marques Brownlee reviewing all the 2022 releases with the ELO rating and the Pixel 6A camera was impressive, punching WELL above it's weight. I came across this video after looking into the 6A more and damn. The price and the photo quality you can get out of this phone is crazy. I am officially sold.
Only the biased ignorant ones will trash an amazing phone like Pixel 6A. Its really amazing hands down. And this video really boosted my love for this phone even more.
Hey Lee, question: In this video some of the images had a caption that said "edited with C1 preset". Is that referring to Capture One? If so, do your presets work in C1? What about the free version of C1? Thanks!
I just tested the regular pixel 6 for 2 days and really have a hard time getting used to the weight. The big screen is fine but damn.. it's so heavy! So I decided to order the pixel 6a because it's lighter and I'm fine with 6,1". I'm coming from a Huawei p30 which I still LOVE but it's not getting updates anymore, so I have to get a new phone. I just need a phone which can be compared to Huawei p30 and I really hope the 6A is a match haha. I already testet pixel 7, pixel 7 pro, pixel 6 pro, pixel 6 and honor 70.
Thank you for that review and thank you Meg 🥰, I figure the camera would still be good even for a budget phone but it's like they say. Seeing is believing!
All the new Sony phones look dope. They are just expensive. Sony has never reached out to me to try any and I don’t really wanna buy them just to test the cameras. But I think the pro camera features they have are better than anyone else imo
While shooting in daylight conditions(with sun), did you receive any notification in camera app that phone is heated, you need to cool down to use further. I heard lot of like these, please let me know if you ever encounter anything similar to this issue. Thanks
Probably the best pixel at the moment, in that it's more utilitarian in design compared to the 7's. The 7's are too fancy pants looking and blingy. Google have lost their way with the newer devices. I think the older sensor performs better . I don't rate the new sensor that much. Google haven't been able to replicate the success of the older sensor. I prefer using one of my older pixels for point and shoot photos ☺️
Yeah it’s wild looking at photos from a pixel 2xl that destroy 6pro and 7pro. I don’t know what they changed but even portrait mode was better on older pixels
Yes please do a battle between this one and the Latest SE And if it’s possible can you do some POV street Photography with this Google phone Thank You…
you got very nice niche here that focuses on one area. a lot of people would be enticed since you focus on area that's really a big big deal for some people.
At 2:24 etc -> I realize this is an older video but I noticed that, even though it was shot at 60 FPS, it looks "flickery" - almost like it's at 15 FPS, and I wonder if it's how your video editing software rendered the clip(s) to 24 FPS. I don't think it's *because* it's 24 FPS, but maybe it is. Thoughts?
Ah, that makes sense. My Sony NEX-5T is like that if I run the shutter speed too high. Great video, by the way. Great shots. Meg was great! @@LeeZavitz
this is a true camera reviewer not like some famous RU-vidr don't know how to shoot photo using phone.this man proof not only iPhone camera is good pixel, samsung can shoot good photo too
I showed some of what the video looks like. It’s pretty good. I feel like it’s over sharpened like most smart phone video but it’s not bad. iPhone still looks nicer imo though
Great content Lee! By the way you made a review last year about the Pixel 6 Pro camera performance. Which do you think is better with point and shoot, hdr, details and easy to use? P6 pro or p6a?
Well the 6 Pro has way better specs all around so obviously it’s better. But I like the size of the 6A more. It just comes down to what you wanna pay. The more expensive phone will always be better
Stop defending it as a budget phone if it was launched at the price of 5A, the 60Hz would’ve been cool. In my country I could get a Pixel 6 at the price of Pixel 6A. iPhone 13 has 60Hz but except for scrolling; animations on iOS “feels” much smoother in 60Hz than any android phone with 60Hz panel.
