Tip on the Google Pixel 6 and 7 in video. Touch the screen and a contrast exposure and white balance sliders will appear - simply adjust them and they will be locked. This will stop your wb and exposure jumping around. Plus if you long touch the screen where you want your focus to be, a lock symbol will appear and your focus will also lock, this is very handy in lots of filmaker situations. 👍
Always appreciate a real Photographer's take on Computational Photography. I totally agree regarding the oversharpening. I find myself always toning it down my in post. But aside from that, if the MKBHD test taught us anything is that if we don't pixel peep that much in Lightroom as if it were a real camera, the Pixel's photos are basically perfect for social media.
That's exactly what I wanted to say, haha. It's a 'social media' camera, where many would want to make things look better/unrealistic. What people look like in their social medea is usually vastly different from their real appearances these days
@@oleksandrkarlash2934 The funny part is, my Huawei p20 also brightens the colours in contrast to other cameras but it's as bright as I experience it for myself when I am actually there,so the colours are much better and realistic to me than my zoom camera for example, they cannot get as beautiful pictures as my phone. Always disappointed that they cannot capture the beauty of the landscape, but my Huawei p20 is the best for that although not that sharp but I love the colours. Very difficult to choose a new phone, I am thinking about google 7 (but not a technique freak so no raw or editing the photos, just point and shoot. but huawei seems to have more modes and shooting options than google....?
I agree. I think Google is pretty much focusing on the social media market. People who wanted to have a great photo and can easily share on social media. It's nice to get an opinion from a professional photog, of course to their eyes there will always be the hit and miss factor. But at the end of the day, most people doesn't really care about the nitty gritty of the photo they take on their phones.
If they're going for social media they're doing it wrong because the Pixel 7 makes people look absolutely terrible. I'm literally ashamed to show anyone the photos I take of them.
I've been a pixel user for almost three years now and it's so satisfying to see that my pixel still is up there with the quality of the photos as the new ones. Great review!
Google Pixel's camera quality is improving every time. And the Pixel 7 series is not an exception. It is nice to have a photographer's insights on this subject. And for me, considering the price of this device, you are getting a great value for your money! Thanks for the review! Keep it up!
I am really stunned by the way you show the whole photographer's review and its pretty rare that one who completely knows everything about the whole scape of photography would know best phones out there and this Pixel 7 is top-notch 🔥🔥 and more be able to show the aspects of it. Love your videos and hope this year you hit the greatest milestones!!
I always like how mobile photography has evolved until this stage, where a small sensor of the camera no longer matters, but the processing can helps to make the job easier, great video Tom!
I have the pixel 6 for a year now and I use only the raw photos with lightroom and I can say that it does a fantastic job for a camera that fits in my pocket everyday!
Appreciate a photographer's perspective! Pixel's always the go-to for me for smartphone photography, never realised the aspects they were lacking on. Totally agreed
Currently on the fence to upgrade from Oneplus 7T to Pixel 7 pro for mainly photography (as a beginner) and a photographer's review like this really helps me make a firm decision to go for it
I did the same jump. Pixel 7 is a good option unless you want to take zoomed in photos. But i do love my one plus 7t as well, it still holds ground even after 3.5 years of usage.
I just ordered a refurbished 6pro to try coming from my OnePlus 7 pro. For $299, I'm hoping it's great, but if it's not, I'll return. I just couldn't justify the 7 pro price when my current 7 pro is still working so well
@@AditiY i basically gave my wife's old Realme in exchange and bought a Pixel 7 for her. But she did not want a phone with "so much quality"... so she's using my OP7T and I've got her Pixel 7 🤣
Finally a video with honest opinion on Google Pixel. So good that I landed on this video otherwise all the creators have marketed this as the best camera system ever with no flaws whatsoever.
I want this phone just for their software and the camera quality. It’s amazing how a phone can match a professional grade camera these days, the only difference is it sometimes struggle in certain situation ,effort is needed to make really high quality shots and ease of use.
Amazing camera review! I was surprised about the white balance issue on video thats pretty absurd and I'm really thankful that you pointed it out. Not a lot of RU-vidrs go to this extent of reviewing and youre certainly one of the best at this niche, keep it up !
Nice and informative video. Having recently purchased a Pixel 7 after owning a Pixel 3A for almost 5 years, it was nice to learn about the hardware and software improvements in the camera.
@@dinukahewasinghe4204 I liked it very much. It was quite easy to use as well. Only thing that I didn't like was its weight. But other than that, nothing to complain about.
That's what I was looking for camera review by a professional. Their are tons of camera comparisons and what not on tech channels but they seem kinda confusing to me. will love to see more videos..... next time maybe a video on Nothing Phone 1 camera??
My hobby is travel…I take a lot of photos..especially of people and close up nature. I have never owned an excellent phone for pics, so I’m biting the bullet and getting one. This video was super helpful and inspiring.
Been running a Pixel 2xl since 2016. I love photography but can't really afford to get a dedicated camera or a new phone. Just trying my luck here 😊 also, been a subscriber since ages - clearly a fan of your videos here ✌🏻 stay blessed!
I'm a budding photographer myself and i have learnt a lot from ur photography techniques and right composition and editing. I've been using ur presets and trying to replicate them each day. I always wished to have pixel phone in my pocket. Appreciate ur content and honest reviews bro :)
I'm thinking about buying the Pixel 7 and your video did support me well in my thought process. Taking photos and videos is one of my main three usecases. Thanks!
It's always good to know a professional photographer reviewing the smartphone camera coz that's what most carry with them...!! Hands Up For The Giveaway
Great shots, and super helpful review of the Pixel's camera. Really enjoy watching these reviews from the perspective of a photographer who knows what they're talking about!
Very nice to hear not only a professional's opinion, but the criticisms included in an overall positive review. I won't be affected by most of these things 'cause I'm definitely not a pro, but honesty is great! Thanks.
Bad practice to open a photographer's review w/ much higher end camera than the one you're talking about. It was good that you put the correct camera in the top left corner, but not enough to avoid misleading the viewer at first, especially if their attention is divided among other things like online shopping. If/when you do another review like this I recommend less distraction at the start 👍👍 Other than that it's a stellar review with lots of useful insight, Great work 🔥🔥💯
was looking up reviews of the pixel series and found ur video one of the most insightful! i'd love to own one one day because i can't afford to get a professional camera hence why i rely on my phone camera so much
Seeing especially a PROFESSIONAL like you 🤩😊 comparing thos big game in photography,is a sure assurance because you are a PRo and know more of photography 😉
For me that video stabilization works quite well (coming from a Xiaomi phone). I also like the one on the front camera. The sky does look really blue, I noticed that too.
I bought a pixel 2xl years ago cos it was affordable...little did I know I was buying into a beautiful world of photography excellence. That phone made me love taking pictures
I am looking for a new Android phone and doing some research about Pixel series - camera is a big deal for me. Thanks for creating this video! It's very helpful and very detailed.
thanks for making this video! ive started taking more photos with my Pixel 7 transitioning from Film and its definitely a stark difference. at least with digital format like a cellphone i can take as much photos as i want without needing to wait for that "perfect" shot. subbed!
I must say the Google tensor chip is allowing Google to do much more with the software. I look forward to getting my hands on this device. Thanks for the video
Thanks for this great review! Haven't heard the overprocessing complaint from many other reviewers, and I completely agree. Makes you think of how honest and unbiased they really are.
With the $500 price tag and its competitor iphone 14 $800, sure pixel can't have the best hardware, lens, stabilization for its price tag but pixel really overcome with its software. Definitely the best value smartphone right now and really hope they fix the over processing image problems soon tho
Over-processing the image is a kind of a trend now with all of the manufacturers these days, some more than others. I am personally a fan of the more natural look like you.
Great video highlighting how well the Pixel 7 does from a photographer's perspective. I'm upgrading to it from a Pixel 4a 5G that has been delivering fantastic photos and video for me for the past 2 years. Thanks for this!
Interesting to get opinions of a pro photographer on the performance of a Pixel phone's camera cause I've always been a fan of their approach esp when it comes to still images. I found the white balance shift weird though when you showed those video clips you took while driving up in the mountains. Also, GGs to whoever wins the giveaway 👍🏾
I am actually motivated to buy pixel series because its my dream phone but I was holding on due to affordability issues but who knows if I'll get my dream phone one day. Loved your video btw. Love from Pakistan.
If you could personally fine-tune the color balancing and the enhancements to the photos, then I feel like the Pixel would be the way to go without a doubt.
I appreciate your fair review of the Google Pixel 7. I have been looking around for a phone with a great camera with a reasonable price. Your rewiew helps my discernment. Thanks.
I have(pixel 7) it for almost 2 months now. I didn't have any complaint about performance or camera except the battery issue. About camera performance,I think your analysis is genuine above so many photographers or youtubers out there. Thank you for this video, appreciate your time and hardwork for this. Thanks for the giveaway also 😍😛. @tom rich
First time viewing a video from this channel and I have to say, I haven't seen anyone giving this much in-depth information about a phone's camera. I am very much impressed. You have earned yourself a new subscriber! Oh and I agree. I also don't like portrait mode from a phone's camera. It indeed looks fake. Natural depth of field is the way to go.
Personally, I do like the pictures produced by the pixel 7. I do like the sharpness, and colors. One thing though that google needs to improve is the video department, I mean it is good but i do think it needs impovement. Improevement in video stabilization, accurate colors, and sharpness a bit.
