:: I walk beside I walk beside myself To see what’s left Of you and me And what it means Sometimes we're lost Get caught up in senseless things For nothing at all So don't let it in We can be free if we want it Or we can stay in this lane all alone Just say the word and I’m on it The past is receding So we can move on I didn’t decide I love you despite myself You pulled me out Of who I’d been Know what I mean? I'm not a saint I've got no faith to lose Only to gain At least I can dream We can be free if we want it Or we can stay in this lane all alone Just say the word and I’m on it The past is receding so we can move on We can be free if we want it We can be free if we want it We can be free if we want it We can be free if we want it Don’t look back Keep going I walk beside I walk beside myself To see what’s left Of you and me And what it means If it goes wrong I’ll reassure myself I knew all along At least it was real It was real Don’t look back Keep going We can be free if we want it We can be free if we want it We can be free if we want it We can be free if we want it ::
I feel like I need to prepare myself before listening..I read the lyrics and am going to need for my mind to catch up with my heart before I take in more
This song makes me feel like it's okay to cry, it gives me hope, it makes me wanna run in a field, tell my family that I love them, that everything is okay and everytime Nothing But Thieves make a song I juste have so much on my heart and their songs just make me feel instantly better. This song is a gem, so far my fav with Moral Panic
I’ve been struggling with my mental health over the past couple of years, with some seriously low points that could have ended awfully. I’ve been ‘healing’ (as I like to call it) for around a year, and as of very recently I’ve decided to be better - to be truly nice to myself, and ditch that previous version of me for good. Imagine my surprise when I listened to the new NBT album, and found this gem hidden in there. I sort of tend to project my old self and situation onto the lyrics, and it fits a little too well. Not to mention this song, on a general note, is absolutely beautiful to listen to. I’ve never quite found a song that I thought could encapsulate that transition of my depressed self, into my healed self - but this is it. This is the one. Thank you, NBT. I adore you guys.
i hope you continue to do better and understand your worth in this world, as it would be so different for so many people if you were no longer around. glad you’ve found a song that you can relate to 💗
Music has pulled me out of some really dark places too. Keep listening. No drug can do what music does for my mental health. Hang in there, things WILL get better for you.
Crying to the top while listening to this beautiful song. Funny thing is, I became their fan with Dead Club City and it's until today when I get to give the whole Moral Panic album a listen. I stood when I landed in this track and couldn't advance. Honestly one of the most outstanding tracks I've heard in my life. I'm still weeping and sobing, but I can't stop listening to it, and I have to thank Connor and the guys for putting their souls into this. The song basically feels like you're saying goodbye to something you'll no longer have, while you also embrace the fact that you really need to move on.
I have really never had the severity of mental health that others have had but these lyrics just help spell out the struggle/healing so beautifully. Walking beside yourself telling yourself you can be free if you want it. My God, how heart-breaking and ethereal all at once. It just makes me weep. Thank you for painting such a graceful and real struggle while transforming perspectives to understand it better.
Brittish rock is the best. I'm Argentian, my native language is spanish. I like rock a lot, and I know it was born on the US, but brittish people perfected it. I don't know what is about you people, you can subjugate people and bring war and slavery to a lot of places in the world. But I love your music, even more then the music of my own country. And you make the best rock music, that's a fact fact for me. Maybe is how the melodies turn out because of your language, I don't know. But it's beautiful
This song gives me such chills and makes me think of someone that I had such intense feelings for, and they for me but cos of circumstance couldn't be together. They passed away suddenly a month today and it hurts knowing I'll never hear from them again. I think of you everyday.
Today, we are not free, we are all dependent on something. From something like the Internet, the image of a successful person, from a loved one, family, money, power, from natural phenomena. The main addiction is life to those who you are not in the images of what you want. You get high on what turns out at work, you get high on how you are with your lover and spouse, you get high when you control or surrender, but you are deceiving yourself. When you are dependent on being someone and with someone and that kind of need, then you are not free. I'm tired. Thank you guys for giving me a second wind.)
you know it's true art when it makes you feel out of this world. when the band is thousand of kilometers away from you yet their music is being played in your ears for days and nights.
Mine was "The Sun Always Shines on TV" by a-ha. Until today. Podium has a new winner: the funny thing is, I can't stop crying while listening to this. These guys are beyond any logical explanation.
this song gives me such a sense of freedom, the kind of freedom and carefreeness you only feel during the summer. especially the guitar at 2:59 reminds me of the cries of cicadas
This is sooo much better than it will get credit for; his voice is incredible, and conveys the pain it’s supposed to. However, despite the lyrics portraying heartache, the tune delivers hope. Superb song, and one I’ll never leave off my go to playlists
I’m telling you, spot on. My heart wants to burst and my eyes brim with tears. This song makes it so much easier to have sympathy for those that struggle with mental illness.
This song gives me hope about my past relationship. That it is good to feel sad about it and that we have to continue our lives. That we have so much left to live. Our moment together has past and "at leats it was real" :')
I walk beside, I walk beside myself To see what's left of you and me And what it means Sometimes we're lost Get caught up in senseless things for nothing at all So don't let it in We can be free if we want it Or we can stay in this lane all alone Just say the word and I'm on it The past is receding so we can move on I didn't decide I love you despite myself You pulled me out of who I'd been, know what I mean? This song should be played on the north american tour since we missed these along with other moral panic album songs during covid. 🎉🤟👌🔥 so emotional yet uplifting song.
Conor Mason @NBTConor - Oct 23, 2020 (...) just wanted to say I hope you're all well and enjoy our third child 'Moral Panic'. My personal favourites are 'Free if we want it' and 'Can you afford to be an individual?'. I left a part of me in each of those songs that I don't need back. So have 'em.
One of my favorite songs, to listen too great song. Get caught up in senseless things, love you despite my myself, I’ll reassure myself, at least it was real. Brilliant lyrics💯😊👍
