Nothing is Amoré About Mama Melrose's New Menu at Disney's Hollywood Studios 

I remember when this place 1st opened...IT WAS AMAZING! The original chef come out to our table when we were dining here (it was one of our favorite spots) we had twin boys (toddlers) they loved the bread. We went every trip to Disney! When this chef left, it was never the same and we don't go back

Agree with Hannah 100% about old HS…aka MGM studios . I like the feel of that Disney era and I would be ecstatic if they ever brought the Osbourne lights back. It’s a huge disappointment every holiday season to be without it.

It was suppose to be a muppet theme restaurant as part of a bigger muppet land before they pulled the plug on it. Look at the low rafters rizzo and his rat buddies were suppose to be on top of them.

I attempt to eat healthy in the sense that I make everything from scratch as much as possible. Whole, fresh, ingredients, less of the stuff that you find in packaged foods from the store. What that in mind, I understand why Italian restaurants would be expensive, but, I also know how much it cost to buy a box of pasta, and a can of sauce. Don't charge quality prices when you're serving mase market dishes. Disney parks often don't even make an effort to have their crap ingredients served right. They're located in a major city, with plenty ot resources, the park managers have access to an entire metropolitan area, and they still act like the best they can do is heat and serve, while pricing it as if they have a trained kitchen staff prepping, cooking, and expediting. Everyone dismisses it as "that's just Disney pricing", but come on. A pork shank is $2 a pound at most, they charged $30 for a poor quality piece on some corn meal and brown sauce. And, that was the most sophisticated of the dishes.

Hannah needs a trip to Silver Dollar City during the holidays. It’s the closest you can get to the Osborne Family Lights now.

Even if this isn’t going to be the place of choice for many, glad you reviewed it, because visitors will eat here as part of getting the Fantasmic dining package. I hope all the bad reviews of the new menu changes will get them to reconsider some of these dishes

I have watched a few different online reviews of the new menu, none loved it. For $26 Craig's meal would have upset me , even considering Disney Prices. I love the review though.

Love the videos, but you have to shoot footage of cutting into the dishes. Especially the desserts. We don’t need to see you eat, but showing the actual dishes and cutting into them would help. PS. Hannah is #1 😉 Ryno and Craig are pretty great as well 😂

I saw Ryno last week on Rise of the Resistance! We ate at Mama Melrose and really enjoyed it. I found that it was one of the few places that didn't have a MAJOR decline in food quality since my last trip in 2019. Now don't get me started on Landscape of Flavors in AoA though... that was the most dreadful food of the trip for me.

Ryno, the way you use “homely” is very British and it does mean comforting so you’ve got it right, but it’s not used that way commonly in North America. I had a bed and breakfast in Canada and a British guest called our place “homely” that’s were I first heard it 😊

$26 for that empty bowl of rigatoni?!?!?! I would be sending it back asking for the rest of my meal. $15 for cheese sticks? Sorry, they are high on this place. Plus, honestly as many tines we have been to this park over the years...had absolutely no idea about this place. Years as a passholder and really had no idea.

Are we sure those are ciabatta rolls? Those look like the Sister Schubert's rolls we get from Costco...

The appetizer to get is the calamari, best calamari I have ever had hands down only go for that for an appetizer, I also dislike these menu changes, they need to go back to the other menu and get that other chef back ASAP because they just killed Mama Melroses

I love the inside of this restaurant, but I don’t think I’d prioritize it as a place to go. It is a really good option for runners on race weekends though

Mama Melrose is one of my family's favorite spots to eat at Disney, but it might just be rose-tinted glasses. We had one year we drove to Disney World and we arrived later than expected. We were all super tired, but we dragged ourselves out of the hotel room bed and went to Hollywood Studios (then MGM Studios), and we had dinner at MM. I don't know if it was us just being exhausted and starving after our long road trip, but it was such a great meal. I had some kind of pasta dish, though I can't remember what it was. I havent been to the parks since 2012, so I'm sure the quality has changed since then. Bummed to hear y'all didn't love it; it really is one of the last frontiers of that old school MGM Studios vibe.

Those desserts look delish, though.

In UK homely means lovely and comforting but I usually hear it in reference to kitchens. It is a positive meaning, though!

Sad, as this used to be one of my favorites. My wife and I usually have to get food made for us. We have dietary restrictions. We have never had a bad meal at MM. But after this review we may skip it.

Mama’s was always a must do for us and I have good memories. I watch yous regularly and I swear Ryno and Craig recently did a Mama,s review - am I wrong?

Need to work on your scoring system. 3.7/5 is a 74% or solid C (passing). If you can't aren't recommending I done see how this restaurant can be better than a D (3.0/5)

Just an FYI - it is the difference between 'homely' (unattractive) and 'homey' (evocative of home).

I feel Ryan is critical of most Disney World restaurants. That said - a good go to lunch of mine at Mama Melrose is the Caesar salad and margherita pizza. My son and I each order a salad and split the pizza. It’s a nice solid lunch and you don’t feel overly stuffed. One of the best things they had on the menu years ago was the penne alla vodka. Taking that off the menu was a huge mistake.

Hannah’s dish looks like the one Deni just had at trattoria al forno! Super greasy 😩

Why do you now have to ask for the bread? Seems to be a clear cost cutting measure, they are hoping most won’t ask. Wow this looks poor.

Ryno, I'm pretty sure in the U.K. they use the word homely the way you do. Someone I watch from the U.K. says it all the time and it took me 2 or 3 times of him saying it to realize what he meant by it. So try saying it with a British accent next time and then you won't offend anyone lol.

I’ve had a lamb shank, thinking it would be delicious. It turned me off, and I’m rarely turned off by food. It was too fatty, I think.

I’m not a huge fan of the new version of Hollywood studios. I agree that it used to be the best, when it was the old MGM. As far as this restaurant goes, we used to come here years ago, but we stopped coming here because the food would make my son sick anytime we ate here. It might have been too spicy. As far as the adults go, I do think the food was just okay. I like Tony’s a lot more.

Completely disagree. Most underrated restaurant at HS. Would much rather eat here than Sci fi, prime time (yuck), or roundup. Have great memories going here on my honeymoon and again this year with my kids. The new pizzas are really good. MM and ronto wraps FTW at HS

Seems like this is just another example of Dis-flation. Even more overpriced and quality downgraded. Disappointing
