After my real-world, daily usage of the Nothing Phone (2a), here is my practical review. This device was provided by @NothingTechnology, however all views are my own. hoo.be/parker
Been looking forward to this review ever since you dropped the short, your phone reviews are always very informative and detailed and never leave me wanting more (except the phone 2a). God bless!
There are phones superior to nothing phone both in terms of performance and camera. But the os might have a little bit of bloatware. I guess you can wait for the upcoming Nord ce 4. It has solid specs on paper
I'm watching this on my Nothing Phone (2a)! My experience has been great so far, and I agree with everything you said. Having switched from an iPhone, it feels so refreshing to try something new. I don't think I'm ever going back!
I don't play games.. So I can't tell about the gaming experience right now.. But looking at the performance I'm pretty sure that games would run fine on this phone..
I returned my OnePlus 12 and got the nothing phone 2a. If you are not into heavy gaming and photography. This phone is damn good. Clean UI...snappy AF. Yes. There is a lag after the initial setup as he mentioned. Restart the phone few hours after setting it up. You ll see the magic.
It's a good phone yeah, but I think changing it from the OnePlus 12 is a big downgrade, starting from performance ending with photography. But in the end it's everyone's own choice so I hope you will be happy with it
The more i see a review about the Nothing Phone 2a the more i love it. Especially just like you, i'm using a smartphone juste to make calls, texting and emailing. The only reason i won't buy it, is because of the screen size. I wish it was a 6'2 screen
The best review of the Nothing phone 2a I have seen up to now. No messing about with fancy graphics and useless info. Great advice and all the questions answered that I needed. Sadly you have just cost me £349 ! 😂😊😉 Keep up the good work fella !
Very nice review Parker. For the price it's definitely a great device and a very strong contender from Nothing. I think yours is the milky colour, then there's a more transparent white one and then the too dark black one. The two white one's are the better choice imo because the black one is so dark you cannot really see the transparency in normal light. I'm really surprised that the Nothing design team let that slip through. It should have been the same shade as either 1 or 2 but not darker. It does face stiff competition though, mainly from Xiaomi/Poco and Samsung with the A35. So they have done well to get 100 000 sales on day one. Let's hope it continues to do well so that we can see similarly affordable devices from One....er I mean Nothing, in future...
I'm using S23 Ultra as my main phone, and Nothing 2(a) Milk color as my Second phone... love the looks... remind me of the old school plastic Transparent look on Gameboy i use to have... 😊
You're amazing Parker... Thank you for this ..... Had to come al the way from Instagram being following you for a long while and so far you've been amazing and helpful love your videos
Great review and I'm now a subscriber. One recommendation though. The smudges on your glasses from the light reflection can be very distracting. I would just double check and clean your glasses before doing a video so that this isnt viewable. Other than that, great review!
Contented watching your videos reviewing a lot of phones. (Coz I can't afford new one. Last time I bought is on 2018. Second hand iPhone 7 plus). Keep reviewing some more. ^_^
Some people using nothing phone 2 also face some issues with stereo speakers, like sometime spotify run with mono speaker and crappy sound too. Hope nothing team fix it soon.
Bro I literally ordered the milk 2a version last night I also have the Samsung Galaxy s 24 ultra like you do but I wanted to have a second phone that could be really fun and I think the 2 a will be just that and at a really good price!
The catch for US at least it’s through what they call developer program. You don’t get support after 14 days plus missing some bandwidth with certain carrier. T-Mobile is missing some 5g bandwidth, AT&T and Verizon don’t have 5g at all for this phone. I think it’s pretty important to mention this since connectivity core functionality to a phone.
Question for Parker? Does the nothing phone have tap to pay like wirelessly tapping and paying with your card on the phone? Will there be a more better phone coming fromm nothing sooner? I love your short videos but this long form was amazing Thank You❤😊
For those of us in the USA it works with my Tmobile sim card with no problems at all here in Texas 5G works 5 bars all around. I tried putting in my work sim which is Att and only got 4G LTE maximum and the signal was a bit dodgy going between 1-3 bars.
I see most of the budget android mobiles have frame rate issues with play store and youtube while scrolling ..Is it the same in Nothing 2a as well? I want to buy this for my dad.. pls suggest
Hey I have a question and since this a nothing phone 2a then I have a question. should I upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy a51 4g to this phone? I used my current phone for 3 years (no, it doesn't get oneui 6.0 I'm still using oneui 5.1)
Is there a way to use the phone call app without requiring pin? sometimes I just want to allow a friend to make a phone call without unlocking my phone
How's the durability? I saw an indian youtuber do a durability test and the plastic back got scratched really easily and the most surprising thing was that the display showed small marks at level 3 with deeper groves at level 4 and above, which is normally only on plastic displays even though they advertise it aas gorilla glass 5 (durability video is from Gupta Information Systems in Hindi (subtitles in english, I don't understand hindi)
The Android when you put it on silent doesn't work in games as the games are still heard but in return when you put the iPhone on silent it is no longer heard in the games.
Great review! You touched the points I was interested in and you helped me a lot deciding on purchasing it. How is the 8gb version handling multiple apps in the background? Can it keep them alive and ready to go?
I guess a question for Nothing phones in general, does their custom icon pack cover a wide range of apps? I love the aesthetic but having one icon that isn’t coordinated with the others is a deal breaker for me. I think thats one reason I haven’t switched to Nothing yet.
That's what's great about Nothing's icon pack, it forces every single icon to be custom. If it doesn't work for you at first, reinstall it from the Play Store and it should work.
I'm having to switch from my Note 20 Ultra, but didn't want to spend a lot of money on a new phone, and this one caught my attention. Can anyone tell me the performance when opening/switching apps, or when scrolling? Does it work ok with Bluetooth headsets/speakers? And, anyone who had the Nothing Phone 1, does it still work OK?
Gemini is useful af for those of you who don't know. I use it all the time at work and it's at a point where I rarely search something, I just ask gemini.
thinking of trading my iphone 12 for Nothing 2a is that something I am going to regret? 😮 I just have to pay like $15 extra .. so I think thats a great deal! but coming from iphone is it going to be a downgrade??
The only problem I have with this phone is whether to buy the Milk or Black Version. I want the Milk because it looks so cool but the white and transparent plastic will have the tendency to yellow over time. Or I could lean to the Black version but yeah, fingerprint smudges. I'm not a case type of person
