Hard to believe this song was first created and released in 1979. Donald Lawrence PUT HIS FOOT ON THIS. Much respect to Twinkie, Karen, Dorinda, Jacky and Denise and the cast of this great movie.
I just cried y’all 💕🥹 they took this off of Apple Music a year ago and I literally listened to this version every single day, while I was going through a lot in my life at the time….I mean it was a hard time….. It just feels so good to hear again ❤️ thank you for this
I love these songs. They minister to my soul. They all sound better than the original. Thankful for the originals or we wouldn’t have these wonderful ladies recreating these masterpieces. They are all wonderful. Thanks Clark Sisters for blessings us with a powerful foundation with these songs. Shout out to Dr. Mattie Moss Clark all done in her memory. God bless you Dr. Donald Lawrence, Master of The Ministry Of Song
Shelea did an outstanding job on this song, and Donald Lawrence captured Twinkie sound so perfectly. Often people do not understand that on the original version sung lead and bgv.
This version is better than the original because if you're asking Jesus to unhook the chain and ease the pain there shouldn't be anything sorrowful about it like in the much slower original version. This version sounds more triumphant and victorious.
I feel like the slower one was better but this was is beautiful one. I don’t feel it was sorrowful I feel it was a place peace and speaking about that joy in the peace.
The only one who sounded like the person they were playing is Sheleah🤷🏾♂️ I respect it bc they actually were very strategic when casting her and Dr. Mattie’s role more than the others.
Is that Aunjunae and Raven singing in the end? I hear Shelea, but that's not just her and also not Kierra or Christina....I can't quite put my finger on it. Somebody help I've listened to this 100x. LOL
T2 You mean the original STUDIO version because the live version on the COGIC albums was EXQUISITE!! The ‘79 studio version (which the musical arrangement of this was patterned after) was all Twinkie’s vocals (lead & background).
