TEXAS: Allegedly a top program. Has Top 10 recruiting classes almost every year. Has NO academic restrictions. Has the entire state of Texas to choose from, every Texas kid wants to go there (I'm really not sure why). They have unlimited bank account thrown at the football program. Have great weather, hot girls. Have top facilities. Have top pay for head coach and assistant coaches. Have their own network, same as Notre Dame. Have good tradition, but nothing like Notre Dame, USC, Alabama, Michigan or Ohio St. NOTRE DAME: Has academic restrictions. Not good weather. Not the hottest girls. Good, getting better facilities. The best education. Still manages to pull in Top 15 recruiting classes. Recruit nationally. Have to go through rigid background checks, if you have a pulse you can go into Texas. We have our own network. We don't pay our coaches ungodly amounts, they're paid well...but we are a UNIVERSITY, not just a football school. We do have elite tradition. Brian Kelly does have plenty of warts, but considering all that he has do deal with(fans, players, alumni), I think he does fine. Last year was unacceptable. We want championships, we strive for them at Notre Dame. But this also isn't 1990. Kids are different, the game is different. The playing field is NOT level. Most "schools" are not schools. They don't even make their kids go to class. Props to Stanford, Duke, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and the few others that still have the ball to not sacrifice standards for winning. You can tell the programs who aren't playing by the same rules the rest of us are. Their players are bigger, faster, stronger...NOT NATURALLY. They don't lose...ever. That's not normal and it's not good for the game. Who wants to see the same fucking team(s) win every year? I'll die with my team, be they 13-0 or 0-13. But fuck these assholes who shame us for playing by the fucking rules, whether programs scoff at the rules!!!! Cowherd can suck my left nut, after he chokes on my right one!!!! All true. Unfortunately. I go back to the Leahy days when the Irish didn't lose games. My freshman year at ND under Terry Brennan the Irish lost eight games. It's been feast or famine ever since and will go on like that indefinitely. This is no big mystery, write it down.
