I wish so badly that they could have this version of Esmeralda in the original.

I think Helene Segara is the better singer, but it seems to me that all she does onstage is wander around and look alluring. Lola Ponce actually has some playfulness and substance to her.

By beautiful I guess you mean hot :p The thing is, Esmeralda is not supposed to actively tease men as she does here, she's so young and still 'innocent'. That's why she falls in love with a stupid handsome guy like Phoebus and ends up being hanged. Being hot just doomed her. So maybe this version is more enjoyable, but the French one is closer to what Victor Hugo was telling us. And for the singing I have to confess that I like Helene Segara better :D

But Esmeralda is not supposed to be a gloomy, inactive mature girl too. She suppose to be young, happy and active. I actually think THIS Esmeralda is closer with Hugo's Emeralda than French one. About singing, I love Teona Dolnikova from Russian cast most, her voice is too tough sometimes.

Seriously, you prefer the version that Esmeralda clap her hand and walk around over the version with a beautiful Esmsralda, who ACTUALLY bare-foot dancing? You must be French or stick too much to the "originallity" thing.
