I am so thankful for Mighty Elite Bama. The most dominant dynasty in the entire history of college football and gets it done on the field of play with no need for pageantries. The SEC commercial break theme song is more epic than this.
per the university's page the band is 380+ members i am not sure if that number includes the members of the irish guard (the people leading the main part of the band and all the cheer squad or just musical instruments but i will say this is is amazing to see them in person on campus and in the stadium
Hello, in fact the Kilt is IRISH, the sporran is Scottish, also the Redcoats were very much English, Irish, Scottish. the Kilt is actually IRISH, if you really want to know about the history of the Kilt you could look it up in the University's of England where you will find out it is IRISH in origin. There are Dutch illustrations of the IRISH Dress in the 16th and 17th centuries which can be found in books etc.
@@mkeibergin3775 incorrect. But anyway, I was more referring to the tartan etc. It’s just like when ‘Irish’ pile bands in America play Scottish bagpipes instead of Irish ones, because they do t have a clue
It seems you don't understand that Irish-American culture IS Irish. Notre Dame IS Irish. Everything you're seeing is the result of millions of Irish immigrants. So saying "They" don't have a clue is laughable since it's clearly you who is clueless.

I wonder what the Irish thought about all this? Marching bands, american football, Irish kitsch invading their quiet town for a weekend....they must have thought , "Is this our ancestors cultural legacy?

@@Biden4more yes, it’s all show. there’s a reason they only have drums and not other instruments , they couldn’t pull-off their idiotic stunts trying to wow audiences with brass or woodwind instruments you’re trying to bash a traditional band by comparing it to a completely different band. next you’ll call me racist because i called it idiotic
@@bostonrailfan2427 they don't just have drums. For example, Jackson State Sonic Boom has a 250 member band with every instrument imaginable. It's obvious you've never watched an HBCU band. Try RU-vid. Here's some suggestions besides JS. Florida A&M, Southern, Prairie View, Alabama A&M, and many more. Saying that those bands are all show and can't play quality music sounds a tiny bit racist.
Sorry, but the leprechaun is a pretty offensive stereotype. Don't understand why indian chiefs and such have been banned as offensive, but ths has not.
The Irish who built ND did this very much on purpose. ND was built when thousands of famine Irish immigrated to the USA. Because most were poor, Catholic and illiterate they were hated…by groups like the Know Nothings and the KKK. And by individuals who posted NINA signs in their business…No Irish Need Apply. Irish we’re caricatured in major newspapers cartoons as dirty smelly ignorant apish papists. This began to change slowly during and after our Civil War…when Americans noted that the new Irish Americans and their descendants were fighting in the thousands….and dying in hundreds….to defend the Union. So American Irish decided to own the green, the leprechaun, to show the shamrock with pride…and defend the Catholic faith. ND was started by a French Order…hence the name….but so many Irish students came, they dominated. Father William Corby had been a Chaplain in the Union Army during that war. He later was stationed at ND, rising to the presidency. He had given the most famous battle blessing of the war to the men of the NY 69th….the most famous Irish Brigade of the war. After the war in the 1920s, the KKK rallied in Indiana and decided to March in South Bend. Where ND is located. Students got wind and went to town, where some Irish heard the Klan was planning on marching on ND and torching the university. Well this caused a little fight. Fr. Corby intervened, convinced the sheriff to kick the Klan out and threatening any student who would still fight with expulsion. This episode, along with the reputation of fierce loyalty and fight in the war, caused the students to name their sports teams…the FIGHTING IRISH. Sorry this is so long. My grandparents were from Ireland a hundred years ago and we’re proud of Ireland, family and their faith. Like the fighting Irish. If ya take the piss outta someone you make them look stupid. ND made real prejudice look exactly as ignorant as it is. God bless the USA. Erin go Bragh. 🇺🇸🦅🇮🇪
because the Irish people have no issues with a freaking MYTHICAL BEING being used and the ones whining about native mascots aren’t natives, they pissed-off the Seminoles trying to ban their mascot when they approved and ensured he wasn’t insulting 🙄
@@bostonrailfan2427 Oh, you have checked with the 'irish people' have you? Because most of my Irish relatives find the leprechaun pretty demeaning, especially the fake red beard and other nonsense.
@@OHCelt funny, not one single jeer, complaint, cry of racism from anyone…the only ones offended are non-Irish, people who live in the US who have never once set foot on the island let alone speak a word of Gaelic. you’re just another fraud trying to claim offense yet you are as Irish as a Norse raider
