got a 61 that i had too bring back from socal wanna be chopper look (too short of shocks, too high of handlebars, hideous long 2 person seat , horrible flame purple paint job and weirdo exhaust system) when i finally got it together and timed it and adjusted everything is actually ran really good so decided to just drive it - its a blast and while a totally tank but is pretty solid bike for a dinosaur
My dad bought one and could not ride it. The throttle twisted forward and spark advance was on the left and twisted backwards. You did not give it to much spark while kicking it over. I still have the bike and have had a ton of people try to buy it. Not for sale
“Last year panhead, first year electric start”- my father in law. He had a 65 till the mid 80s, and at one point even put a sidecar on it. He was in some chopper mags in the early 80s, we even have pics of him and Willie G Davidson together. He had to sell it for unfortunate reasons. I wasn’t in a position to buy a Harley till after he passed away, I wish i was to let him ride it. I bought an 07 Road king about 2 years after he passed. I’m now in a position to where I can get a classic Harley and of course a 65 is on top of that list. It would take a “can’t pass it up” deal on a different bike to get me to buy it. However I know the wife will be disappointed if I buy a classic that isn’t a 65 duo glide and it’s the one purchase she would actually encourage😂.
thats nice .. can i have it? it's my birth year. in theory they don't need ajustment but unless it has solid lifters it does. the only pan i ever had was a 61 . i road shovels for most of my life, one for over a half a million miles. That bike i was aways adjusting the valves and reseting the timing.
