Was written about her family, she said her grandmother passed away a week before she put this together and never got to hear or see this, she made it so her family would know that even tho she moved out of Canada to California, she loves them and respects the struggles and sacrifices they made
I think you perceive it in a wrong light... I think this is a story of someone looking from outside at the situation and telling people from these stories that yeah, you made mistakes, yeah you crashed but you are not a failure, I don't blame you because I KNOW you DID your best.
@@korinogaro that might make sense if Nova hadn't said that it was a song she wrote and explained the circumstances that I posted...but I guess she might be wrong about what she wrote her song about...
you prolly dont give a shit but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost my login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me
She wrote this song about her family. A couple of days after recording it her grandmother passed from a heart attack. They filmed the video right away. She held on to it for about a year.
Not ashamed.... this one makes me cry much like toms song cancer does. Tom and Nova can tell a story and paint a picture with their lyrics but seeing the visuals added to it... its absolutely beautiful.
Each portion is for a different member of her family. She had me UGLY crying the first time I heard this. I remember when her Grandmother passed, how devastated she was. Seeing this was a gut punch. Beautiful. #HOG4LIFE
I bawl every time with her on this. She is so good a pulling emotional responses in her songs. I get a similar reaction but not tears to the aggression that she has in Genghis Khan. And how do you not bounce with her in Problems 😀. Nova's my favorite listen to her every night love Tom also but Nova's my go to music. Can't wait for tomorrow!!!
Just so that you're aware... there is a 3rd leg to the HOG tripod. His name is Brandon Hart. He's the friend whose couch Tom usually ended up on when he was homeless. He opens for Tom when he tours. He also has some great music. Might give him a few views. Slow, Do Better, Dealing With, Dad Bod ... Elvis. #HOG4LIFE
"There is more to you than the battles you lose, you'll see" is the line that gets me every time. Having gone through my own break-down and rebuilding I can only hope that my kids understand that through it all, I have done my best and that there is more to me than the battles I lost. I'm still here and still pushing to win.
I’m a hard-ass it takes a lot to get me to cry but this song and video damnit😢 (That and this song hit me personally I’m 35 I have a wife and kids but my sister is all I have left from my family)
Nova hadn't been with her family for almost 10 years when her father passed. So she wrote this track, and 2 days before shooting the video her grandmother passed of a heart attack. Tom wanted to postpone the video but Nova wanted to capture her own pain for the video. This happened right before Covid, so Nova sat on this video for almost a year before releasing last month. This is a story of Nova's entire immediate family.
Sadly thats her grandparents looking down on the family from above. Few days after this was made her grandmother really did pass away. These 2 together are AMAZING
I thought it was different people's stories...made me teary how beautiful the lyrics were cause if you're a parent you know we all sacrifice and do our best.
If you go back and check her oldest stuff you can see the record label influence on her. I love her new stuff so much more. Nova wasn't built to be a label's victim. She's way too powerful and real, especially now that it's all her and Tom on the grind. They are unstoppable. Great reaction!
And we all have our family tragedies that are heartbreaking but imagine being able to put it out there for the world to see, and even better, imagine being able to go back home and bring everything to the family that was always there for you! Epic!
This is her life. Her family. Those who passed away were looking in through the window. Her grandmother did not get to see it. She passed away a week before this video was done.
The lyrics to all their songs paint a picture of real people and real life situations for normal working class people, this is what is bringing us all together, we suffer and life is hard, this is what we have in common, and this is why we shouldn't let the MSM and race hustling politics divide us, love and peace to you all, especially those going through hard times, your not alone 🙏
This was a great reaction to a lovely song. And u are right about it feels like we are on a ride with Nova. Beautiful. We need more from u guys. More more more.
Great reaction. Lots of good comments with great information. I hope you will react to a lot more of Nova's music. She has a lot of great songs and obviously she is an amazing talent. Just exceptional at everything.
There’s a lot of musicians etc., but these two are ultra talented and this is just the beginning. We will look back at these two as those that opened the doors to a music revolution. Just stop and think about the fact that together they make the beats, the rhythm s, the song writing and the vids. Insane
Hey guys, I found your rection channel after binging on quite a bit of Tom MacDonald's songs. I really enjoy your take on it all. If I could be so bold as to request a song that I know won't get you a ton of views, but I think you will both enjoy? Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu - Wiyathul Gurrumul was an indigenous Australian musician with such a beautiful soulful voice. I have no idea what his songs are about as it's in his native language, but it touches the soul. He was born blind and learned to play the guitar upside down, as he's a lefty. His voice and his songs have taken him around the world, playing in front of the Queen of England and Barack O'bama amongst others. No idea if you'll see this, but keep it going :) You two are doing it right!
So I read another comment on another reaction and they explained it so well. I'm not sure if this is the true story but once I read it, its all I can feel and see when I hear the song. I want to make sure to say that none of this is known as fact. It is just a layout for the story, that I read in another comment, that helped me follow along. They explained it like this.... So, the first gentleman she speaks about is her uncle. He was bullied in school and called retarded, maybe he had a learning disability? He settled for factory work, grew up to be 50 but mentally was 12. Next was her mom who felt trapped and weak and just longed to connect to her husband again. Then she speaks of her father who was a rock star but gave up his dreams to raise her and their family. She then speaks of her grandmother who had Parkinson's and how hard it was to accept the parts Parkinson's stole from her. Next she speaks of her grandfather who got a girl pregnant before finishing school. How he ignored that he had a baby girl until her mother stopped trying. How on his deathbed he wished for the daughter he never knew. Now the next part I have heard 2 ways but idk.... 1st, was that its her grandfather who gets into a car crash (doesn't really make sense to me since he is visually old in the video, and this verse is speaking of a mom being sick of the noise from what I would assume would be 4 younger kids and her husband) 2nd, is that it's about her brother and his family, but let it be known that I do not know if Novas brother has passed or not. I do not claim that any of this is fact. Then sadly we move on to the funeral scene. I believe this is to symbolize her grandmothers funeral. Tragically Novas grandmother passed away, I believe around a yr ago. . I feel this from the scene when the grandmother joins the grandfather (who on his deathbed wished for the daughter he never knew) on the other side of the window and was looking in on the family. As if the family was saying goodbye and the grandmother crosses over and joined the grandfather on the other side. I wanna say again, that none of this is fact. This is just a layout I read in another comment that just made sense to me. It helped me follow along. Tragically Novas grandmother passed away, I believe around a yr ago. She wrote this song for her grandmother and made this video a week after her grandmas funeral. I can understand why she sat on this video so long before releasing it. This song has hit me so hard in the gut. I have listened countless times and still cry like a baby every time I hear it. Such amazing work
Yeah, Tom and Nova are both SUPER talented!! It takes a different type of talent to act in these videos and they both do it SO well!! I love y'alls reaction videos, btw!! I think I'm quickly becoming a #GoodTimeCrew member 🥰❤✌
We all experienced loss, and pain, and torment.. regardless of history. upbringing means nothing.. Regardless of assumption, every single ancestor has been hurt. It is our duty to remedy histories mistakes.
Another great recommendation, it's slightly different, is Tom telling a scary story from his past, he's a great storyteller, and it is well worth a watch
Nova's old stuff is good too she shines through in them to. Not all have the best messages but her ability to pull you in she is savage at rapping I really like her new stuff but her old stuff has quality too. The line in hey you I'm to real for all these fakes showed even then💖💖💖. I know she has a few books and designs clothing too like Tom she is getting better as she grows.
It was clear in your reaction video you started off pretty happy and as you listened to the song you guys got somber . You must had a reflecting moment?
I don't think this is about her family necessarily. I think it's about life sometimes taking a turn and how we cope with it. I was getting ready to go to anesthesiology school and got pregnant ending up working at a coal mine in WV till retirement for a child that never comes around. I ask myself what I did wrong and did I make the right decisions? Now realize I did my best with what I knew at the time
I am new seein you but want more. Can you do some JRock like Band-Maid : Manners or Lovebites : Empty Day Dream Live? Both all women bands and I do not think they hate guys.
Whenever anyone says Hang Over Gang, people say they are apart of Hang Over gang. When I talk about the core of Hangovergang there are the original 5, meaning Tom is 1/5. Brandon Hart is 2/5 of Hangovergang. I question if Dex (not Dax) is 3/5, Nova has a tattoo on the back to the side of her neck that has the H-O-G letters so I am not sure that makes her of/5, or of/6. I will say, if it wasn't for Brandon Hart, there would not be a Tom MacDonald. Too many times Tom was homeless, and Brandon took him in, and gave him an air mattress, or a couch to sleep on. Brandon also had paid into the ad space on Facebook for Tom, when Tom wanted to push 'Dear Rappers'. Brandon wasn't the only investor, but he dropped a good chunk of $ for that track. I know Nova is tomorrow, but can we get a reaction request for Brandon next week? Be advised there 3 artist with the same name. To find the correct artist, how about a reaction to 'Dealing With'. Be advised he sounds completely different than Tom/Nova.
