Novak Djokovic plays wheelchair tennis | Australian Open 2017 

Everyone is entitled to be a fan (or not) of any player, I respect and admire Roger, Rafa is probably my favorite, but Djokovic - almost a co-fave for me with Rafa - is the most down-to-earth, is incredibly intelligent, naturally humorous and witty and gives back plenty to various charities and seems to enjoy doing so. I'm just curious as to why you and others are not fans.

I'm just far more of a Roger and Rafa fan than a Novak fan. As a tennis watcher I just prefer their games..

Why respect him when he didn't even take the wheelchair tennis seriously? I'd be pissed if I were the disabled guy. Djokovic just fucked around when the other guy takes his sport really seriously.

He proposed he did it on wheelchair and he so gracefully accepted and tried and clearly told the crowd to cheer for him for being able to do that...hes funny and maybe u dont understand that which is very sad.. we both watch the same video but see different thing just coz u have a very cynical perception of him or perhaps everyone in general...

I feel the exact same way. I didn’t like him at first just because I was a Nadal fan, but Novak is an awesome guy on and off the court.

I dunno. They're in wheelchairs for the whole life (or at least a very long time), so it's probably as natural as walking for them.

@Ichiro Chia Yea I have been watching him when he was consistently 3rd and 4th on atp rankings, and I knew he was gonna be so successful then. Imo he has the best balance between power and flexibility of the big 4 (well you can say big 3 now since Murray lost his form for a long while)

It was a really bad form when he jumped out of his wheelchair. I found it distasteful.

BMdeYoung for so many years it was Roger and Rafa and when Novak became dominant Fedal fans like me didn't like it lol esp when he is beating Fedal in slam finals. Sometimes he comes as arrogant the way he celebrates when he wins and when he reacts to fans of Fedal when we cheer our idol. I can't blame him though but the way i see it he's not going to get the same affection as Roger or Rafa.

It was all early in his career when he kept retiring from matches, his parents were very arrogant towards Federer and he purposely antagonised the crowd when they weren't supporting him. People also didn't like his celebrations where he'd rip off his shirt. His past has given him a bad rep even though he's a classy, humble champion these days.

It's because of he's fans like Federer, Nadal and Djokovic they all have some of those insufferable fans. that make you dislike him. i personally don't dislike either of these tennis players but i can see why people do.

You don't know him and he's an utter stranger to you, you can't possibly know if he's a great human being or not.

no. sometimes incredible skill and being a legend at your sport, yet having an attitude makes not everyone like you as much as they like others, and thats when this athlete's fans go crazy haywire cause they wish this athlete was loved as much as Federer, or Nadal, who have better attitudes. It's much slower and less enjoyable to watch than normal tennis, its same as comparing Olympics with para olympics.. although they struggle more to play a sport handicap the privileged ones takes the crown that's the world of sports

Because of a couple of reasons, in my opinion : -He came a couple of years later after Federer and Nadal domination that made them so famous to everyone on the world and not just tennis fans. The crowd was already with these two guys rivalship and seeing a third one coming breaking this rivalry was not a convenient thing for them -His tennis style is sometimes defined as "boring" compared to Feder and Nadal. Nadal has his weapon, the forehand, Federer has his stylish backhand and good-looking tennis style that make these two very appreciated. Djokovic is different, he plays a well-rounded tennis that hasnt really got any really "strong points" or that can be defined as his weapon. He has a very good defense and court reach, good precision and coordination, but no signature style or "fancy shot". This makes him "plain" compared to others, which is not absolutely true. -He is a very very good guy but his character is not very liked by some (especially roger-nadal fans obv) , defined sometimes as "arrogant" (which in my opinion is not true at all, to me it's more "high self esteem") and well, he didnt have very good relationships with Roger and Nadal , immediately being pointed at as "not nice". These are the reasons I THINK Novak is not as popular/as loved as the other two, even tho has a positive win-loss record against both federer and nadal (making him statistically better than both of them). It may contain some inaccuracies and mistakes but these are MY reasons

While you are definitely quite right, see WTA (where Halep got no recognition at all even tho stayed No.1 almost 2 whole years), I believe this is a minor reason. Well if he was more "charismatic" he could overcome this ethnicity thing but because he is "not"(he is, but for some reason not recognised) has that handicap

Novak is a good guy, Roger is just more of an old-school favorite. Ask anyone in that crowd that was supporting Roger and they won't say anything bad about Novak.
